how very disappointing. the lofts were awesome. smallish, and i know we have alot of crap, but it’s exactly that – crap, and we could have gotten rid of alot and have been fine. but it turns out, it’s pretty much a section 8/HUD building, which means I make way too much money. WTF THERE ARE REPUBLICANS IN OFFICE AND THEY HATE POOR PEOPLE BUT THEY’RE GOING TO GIVE THEM THESE INCREDIBLE APARTMENTS? and it completely doesn’t make sense to me. the rent is not what i would consider to be cheap, especially if i was poor. their minimum income requirement is 19k and their max is 24k…i’m sorry but if i was making 24k i for sure would not want a 650$ apartment that includes only water – when gas and electric bills have been running us around 200$ each a month…i just don’t understand how that little income is supposed to pay for these apartments (because then you have to pay for parking aside from the unincluded utilities). they said they were looking for urban professionals…to me, that meant people like me, and it didn’t mean welfare cases. and it wasn’t just us who left after they mentioned the income cut off, there were a bunch of us who were like ok then, might as well leave, and we all complained as we left and in the parking lot. just really disappointing and frustrating because i was ready to sign on the dotted line, and they should have 1. mentioned the income requirements on the site and 2. taken a look at my application where it said my income and tossed me in the trash can right away…instead of choosing me first (and i would have had first choice of all the units too…) in the lottery.
so yeah. don’t know what we are going to do now. the lady said cuz i was first they’d probably be calling this week to come back in and do paper work but since i said i make way too much money, maybe she’ll just forget it. she said i could come in and see what other properties they own, but it doesn’t really matter.
i don’t understand how low-middle income people like me are supposed to live…because i certainly can’t afford the high end loft apartments like in the ellicot building or elk terminal. i’m sorry but i really don’t want my entire income to go to rent. it was exciting because these lofts were AFFORDABLE, and i THOUGHT for people like me…like they said they wanted, young urban professionals…so yeah. just completely disappointed.
