new nin whaaaaat?!?

new nin song on radio today…called “discipline”…1:50 min clip to download at tpb. full song available in the ETS thread pg 16 (and many many other pages now). god trent is busy…i kinda like this independent business, and trent’s willingness to release things as soon as they’re done. this song was supposedly mastered yesterday…

makes me think of janet jackson though, since her new album is called discipline too ha

doesn’t sound like her tho haha good thing. at first listen, it was eh. very pop, very “with teeth” era, reminiscent of only. but like the with teeth album, it has grown on me. it’s catchy, but people who want balls to the wall, loud, broken type NIN…this isn’t for you.

Bye Spiral :(

trent is shutting down the spiral fan club and incorporating alot of what was offered with membership in nin.com for free. that’s all fine and good…sorta. he said there will still be presales, but for anyone who signs up at nin.com. which could mean 10837 scalpers buying up all the tickets. not good. plus it seems there will no longer be early entry and a separate line. which sucks BIG TIME. i adored the early entry privilege. presales and early entry are the sole reason i was a spiral member. god knows i had no use for the message board, and i could care less if i got a “free gift” every year.

cassie suggested the reason for eliminating the spiral could have been that it was at least partially paid for by interscope and now trent “can’t afford it”…which is possible. clearly the web component is what costs money (but the arguably, moving those features to a free nin.com means he’s still paying for it), and i’d gladly continue to pay a yearly membership fee for a “fan club” without the web component, as long as it offered the presales – to members ONLY. i’d even give up the early entry, for restricted presales. i know i would never have gotten to see 38 shows without the spiral presales, as i’d never have gotten tickets to shows that all went on sale the same day – and with the fall 05 leg, almost all the shows we went to went on sale at the same time.

i know other bands – smaller bands – like stone sour have internet presales for their free “fan clubs”, i’ve taken advantage of them…but they clearly don’t have as much draw for scalpers as a band of nin’s size. and the stone sour presales were run by the same company as the spiral, music today, which makes me wonder if they’ll continue to do the nin presales on nin.com…and i’m sure music today doesn’t do this for free…

this has the makings for a u2.com ticket sale debacle. only now trent doesn’t have the resources (ie interscope) to back him up and fix it like u2 did. we shall see. hope it all goes well cuz i have 7 more shows to buy 🙂

*edit* as found on the spiral, someone asked Rob
I don’t know all the details of the presale process yet – they are
still working on that – but the goal remains the same as always: To
keep the good tickets available to fans, and out of the hands of
brokers. The process will be very similar to how it was on The
Spiral, where tickets have your name printed on them, and matching ID
will be required when you pick up your tickets and enter the venue.
I’m sure a lot more info will be coming soon, but we’re doing
everything in our power to keep the best seats in the hands of the fans.

a quite interesting night that i don’t really feel like i should talk about but….

sabres won a shoot out HOLY SHIT!!

August 8 Worcester MA DCU Center
August 22 Cleveland OH Quicken Loans Arena

tis a good day 🙂

*edit* i’m really freaking excited about the tour */edit*

dream

dream: i was going to a nin show in ohio. i was driving down the 90 and made record time to the PA border, and i didn’t even remember driving by the angola dennys. i realize i need gas badly, but thankfully i was in Erie, and they always have cheaper gas there. so i was looking at all the tons of gas station signs to find the cheapest and they were all over $6/gallon. yikes. but i see a sign that was only $4 something, so i pull off and it’s a mini mall with restaurants and gas so i decided to get lunch too. inside i ended up sitting with jenn and jeff and megan, don’t know why they were there. they were taking forever though, so i decided to leave before them. on my way out of this mall there was a sports bar and some other nin fans i knew where there so i stopped to talk to them real quick. i think dan was there too. i leave them and go to get the car and i can’t find it. i know where i parked it but it’s not there. so i walk all around the lot trying to find my car. there are lots of other cars with nin stickers on them, but i can’t find mine. i start panicking that it was stolen and what was i gonna do. i text dan and some of the nin fans and tell them my car was stolen, and they offer rides but i’m still freaked out about my car being gone.

i have dreams about my car being stolen alot…i wonder what that means.

and in nin news…there are rumors they’re playing lollapalooza in july(?), and some festival outside of vancouver. i hope to god they are not doing all festivals in the states this summer or i won’t be seeing them. definitely not at lollapalooza.

if trent doesn’t end up doing a US tour this summer, just random festivals, my vacation plans have moved from going back to europe to staying in my own country and driving route 66.

and my sewing project is almost disasterous…i don’t think i’ll ever wear it. it looks way too unprofessional. booo

the shoes i bought clearance from hot topic don’t fit so they’re on ebay. the sweatshirt i bought from them came with ear plugs. ha i find that fabulous.

ghosts

my real nin download worked when i got home from work this morning. and according to nin hotline, the $300 version has sold out. so that’s $750k for trent ha. which he used to buy more servers. i wish i could bookmark the tracks i really like.

and i got a weird myspace friend request on the terminal’s account…from TVT Records A&R…wtf.

halo twenty six

having finally gotten the ghosts package through unofficial means…almost done listening. so much makes me think of david bowie, or perhaps brian eno (tho i don’t know any of eno’s own work, just with bowie). i have a bowie cd of instrumentals of regular songs, all saints i think it’s called, and that’s what i keep thinking of.

the pdf credits list the label as “the null corporation” which i find amusing for some reason. it doesn’t appear to be a real corp, so i find it funny that they felt the need to list a label at all.

the photos are nice…nothing to write home about. i really think rob is so completely overrated by the nin community. anyone can take live photos using the burst function, and the book photos are just location…beach…desert…sky…in studio…blurry, whatever. but i still can’t figure out what iv:32 is, which was posted on the blog a few weeks ago. the one i like the most, for some odd reason, is ii:18. it reminds me of the passenger concourse ramps.

so the album…it’s all instrumentals so what can you really say. there are definitely stand out tracks – don’t ask me which they are lol – and some that are very repetitive (i can think of one from part i) that i’ll probably skip. it’s very chill, will be good background music for get togethers where you need some noise but not necessarily anyone screaming at you (which is what i use all saints for as well). i could use more piano, but that’s me. some say parts sound like old albums, but except for very few tracks i didn’t really hear it. iv:34 definitely sounds “fragile/still” era (piano!), but most sounds definitely “now”. it sounds as trent described, soundtracks to daydreams, scenes…a movie that doesn’t exist. i wonder if it’s something he put together for a year zero movie that is supposedly in the works (or is maybe no longer in the works, hence the release). who knows. all i can say is that it was a great surprise, and hopefully there are more surprises to come.

and now i await my REAL download to work, and the delivery of the special edition in may (sent to my parents house in case i move by may haha)

*edit* is it really possible that the full album torrent on pirate has 6232 peers?!?!

ghostssss

my nin ghosts download finished, and my computer says the zip file is corrupt or invalid HA! just my luck!

*edit* not just my luck!! pretty much everyone is getting a corrupt file, or not being able to download at all. trent got my money, i don’t feel bad torrenting the entire thing until the flac dl works. tho adr1 appears to have gotten it with no problem and is listening in her classroom right now hahahah

ninstrumentals!

honestly, nin fans from the WT era are so spoiled….year zero only 2 years after with teeth, and now ghosts i-iv a year later. 🙂

i won’t rehash what is on nin.com (maybe i should since it’s crashing from traffic) but….here’s the link to part one on thepiratebay
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4059158/Nine_Inch_Nails_-_Ghosts_I_%282008%29 it’s an official release…

i’ve been waiting for 10 years for a nin album full of instrumentals. i’m so excited.

what is happennning?

today is the day…2 weeks after trent posted “two weeks” on his blog…and what do we get so far today…. a post that says “soon”…thank you trent for being so enlightening. tho it is amusing to see the rest of the nin crowd freaking out, pissed off, speculating about what this whole possible announcement is going to end up being.

i’ve found myself with absolutely no motivation once again. don’t want to get out of bed, once i do, don’t want to get ready for the day, don’t want to get ready for work, don’t want to do much of anything.
