Econoline Crush returns

Econoline Crush has been teasing new projects for years now. Yeah yeah, covid blahblahblah. They played Burlington in the summer, and for whatever reason, probably lazy, I didn’t go. They announced a show in Toronto with Finger Eleven, and I jumped on it. I was supposed to go with Mary, but complications arose and I was going to end up having to go alone. I almost didn’t go. I didn’t want to drive up there, since I had to drive home for the Bowie tribute the next day in Buffalo, and then back to Toronto Sunday for Bono. But all year I’ve been passing up on things I wanted to do because I didn’t feel like going, or didn’t feel like spending the money, and I decided screw it, go. Cuz if I didn’t go, the next day I would wish I had.

So I took the TOO LONG almost 3 hour, 90 mile drive to Toronto. Ended up running into Joe who was a few behind me in line. Haven’t talked to him in years, ended up hanging by him during the show, so it didn’t feel so weird to be there alone (not that I mind).

As soon as Trevor got onstage, instant smiling. It was so great to see him perform again, and after all these years he’s still got the energy and enthusiasm he’s always had. It was a fairly quick set, 45 min ish. It’s an entire new band, as Ziggy died earlier this year, and it’s been so long since they were really active. Trevor sounded great – the typical stress of age on the vocals was apparent with high notes, but no big deal. The band… I dunno. Something sounded weird – almost too slow? It was so very loud, I’m not sure if it was the acoustics of the venue, or the loudness but some songs I barely recognized until the chorus came in. Like, I knew the words but not the music. But overall I really enjoyed seeing Trevor again, and hearing those songs, and I am glad I sucked it up and went.

econoline crush – st catherines

Econoline Crush, one of my fav bands, announced a tour with their 3 track EP, and of course my luck, initially I couldn’t attend any of the shows. Conflicts with work, then conflicts with a perfect circle, I was totally bummed I wouldn’t get to see any of the shows. Then they announced St Catherines a week before the show, on a day off, awesome! So I headed up with Joe and a friend of his also named Sara. We got there pretty early, and no one was there, and they venue didn’t have the guest list so we couldn’t get in at 8 with the doors. It was ok, because we went and had some beers at a bar next door, and listened to the openers from that bar’s patio outside. We were sorta glad we were outside, it was loud and…eh. After the 2nd band, even though EC still wasn’t there, we checked on the guest list again and were able to get in. Unfortunately, there were only about 50 people there 🙁 Wish there had been a better turn out, but I don’t know if it really got advertised at all in the week between the booking and the show. Oh well.

Econoline was great as always. It’s been a long time since the last show at Lee’s Palace, and of course even longer since the “Summer of Econoline” and they still have it. Trevor sounds as good as ever, can still hit all the notes, and the songs live are all fantastic – loud, heavy, electronic, awesome. Plus I got to see one of my top 5 songs ever, “Razorblades and Bandaids” for only the 2nd time. It was amazing of course. 🙂

The band hung out after at the merch table (got a rocking long sleeve hooded shirt i can’t wait to wear in cool weather) signing and pics and all that. Got to meet the “new guys” since the last time we saw them, all very nice. (Just realized they didn’t play anything from Brand New History…) It was great to see them again, and wish I could go to their show tomorrow but APC calls.

I feel like I’m “on tour” again, show today, APC tomorrow in Detroit, U2 on Monday in Toronto, Kid Rock at Darien on Wed, then 2 Tea Party shows the following week (and I totally can’t wait to see the tea again).

dream +

had a bizarre dream about a new nin record, that was supposedly year zero. there was all sorts of hidden stuff in it that had to deal with the arg…like if you looked at a certain part of the packaging it told you a certain part of a song to listen to for a clue…which was turning the speakers really loud during the first song and you’d hear a voice say a number – which i forget now – that was the actual “year zero”, meaning that the album was taking place actually in the late 80s (?). i was trying to get to a computer to write up my review of the album, though i never got past the first song which had a woman talking softly on it, like la mer.

and in that spirit, time for my review of the new econoline crush cd, ignite. last thursday i went up to canada to find the cd. i have no idea where to buy cds in canada so i had asked around, with my first stop being walmart. well nothing is ever easy for me when driving around an unfamiliar place. i looked up where the closest one was, as opposed to just going to the one i know in st catherines. it is at morrison at qew…no problem. except qew doesn’t exit at morrison, the only exit once driving past walmart is thorold stone road. so i exited figuring it’d be easy to back track…not so. never saw the walmart again, eventually was almost back into the tourist area of the falls before crossing morrison rd. cool. took the road, finally found the walmart, which was back where i had exited qew. LOL. and they didn’t have the cd. fine, i’ll go to future shop in st catherines which i also know where it is. the kid working was about 12, i asked if they had the cd and he went to look it up. couldn’t spell it so he asked, and i told him…it wasn’t on screen, but he would have had to keep scrolling to see it and didn’t. whatever. i said i wasn’t from the area and where else could i buy cds. he said best buy. i asked where it was, he said 4th…AS IF I KNOW WHERE 4th IS! i thought it may be close and easy to find so i drove around a bit, didn’t find it. fine off to pen center, which i’ve accidentally found once but wasn’t sure i’d be able to find again. i did find it, but at this point it was almost time for me to head back home to go to the board meeting so i had 15 min to run in find HMV and find the cd. they DID have it. thank god. so off for home…figuring glendale went back into the falls (it doesn’t) so i had to back track back to 401 or 104 whatever the road is, and finally made it back into the states. the cd better have been worth it.

overall i guess it was. it was only $11, and though it’s short, 11 songs (i hate that), it is more gritty and rock-ier than “brand new history”, but nothing like “affliction” and definitely not as good as that or “devil”.
could have been – the yelling vocals sort of bother me, but the song has grown on me alot and is pretty cool
dirty – first single, average
psychotic – one of my favs, has a weird cool female vocal part, very unexpected
get out of the way – very stadium rock and roll with the “hey, hey” shouting, reminds me of gary glitter or something. another fav, it’s fun.
hole in my heart – sorta cliche, slower, not really my thing but not horrible
unbelievable – good music, but the chorus sorta bugs me, not sure why.
the love you feel – i think it’s supposed to be a “razorblades and bandaids” comparable song, the drums even sound similar, but doesn’t hold a candle haha. it’s good enough
heaven’s falling – my #1 fav from the album. rock-y and neat
burn it down – another fav, rock
bleed through – best “slow” one, tortured rock
you don’t know what it’s like 2007 – remix/rerecording of the song from brand new history, it’s got neat piano and sounds down tuned or something. it’s a “hidden track” actually track 23 or 24.

i considered taking sunday off to go see them in st catherines but i really need to work, it’s been so slow everyone’s been having to go home early or sit around doing nothing for 3-4 hrs a night, which is actually pretty horrible. EC will tour for ages around here as usual, so no big deal to miss the show.

monte carlo in vegas is on fire.

for someone

is this really how it ends
with a broken heart and a bottle in my hands
in this dirty room i crawled into
running away from the ghost of you

tore it all apart
lost the way out we’ve gone too far
there could never be enough for you
nothing hurts the cold hard truth

never felt so alone
this city feels so damn cold

tell me was i wrong was i right
fought hard with all my might
my soul kicked black and blue
all my pain comes bleeding through
tell me was i wrong was i right
fought hard with all my might
my soul kicked black and blue
all my pain comes back to you

mountain of amends(?)
angry words and blood on my hands
i fell into a burning rage
felt the fire burn through me

when you took my hand
were you playing a part?
did you ever understand?
complicated so like me
lips to feel love’s for real

never felt so alone
this city feels so damn cold

tell me was i wrong was i right
fought hard with all my might
my soul kicked black and blue
all my pain comes bleeding through
tell me was i wrong was i right
fought hard with all my might
my soul kicked black and blue
all my pain comes back to you

econoline

found an article from the summer on econoline crush reforming. this quote made me excited (as if i wasn’t already excited) Trevor: “And in this scenario, its very much along the lines of songs like ‘Home’ and ‘Sparkle & Shine’ and very basic industrial rock kind of stuff. It’s not foreign to the Econoline Crush fan. It’s what we’re known for, melody over riffs.” and then this just made me laugh because it’s the same thing I always say when people bring up Econoline Crush’s rotating line up. Trevor: “Econoline Crush, in my opinion, is a musical project. It’s never been much of a band because we’ve always had so many different people come and go all the time that it’s just a concept. It’s the idea of putting riffs and strong, rock guitar-driven melodies with a vocal melody that almost contradicts it, that’s almost cutting across the grain, like smooth, melodic vocal over top of searing guitars. It’s not really hard to do if you don’t lose the plot. “I think maybe in the past we’ve kind of missed the plot when we’ve started writing and I just think I’ve always been the driving force of Econoline. People come and go from Nine Inch Nails all the time, but it’s always going to be Nine Inch Nails. Same deal.

i think i’m going to go back to carl’s and have the guy who did my halo 14 tattoo add to it. i’ve been strugling to come up with something that would include the line “left with all that was and all that could have been” in a separate tat. so i’m going to have him do something up to add. my only concern is having retard nin fans go on about how “and all that could have been” isn’t halo 14. it’s also not the exact lyric from either “the great below” or “and all that could have been” so 😛

after such a shit day at work yesterday i left today after 3 hours. watching shows on big foot hunters, i remembered that adr2 thought she saw big foot on our way to philly for the 2 club shows in 05. ha.

econoline!!

tonight was econoline crush at lee’s palace in toronto with heather, joe and mary. it had been too too long, 6 years we figured out, since the last time we saw them play before they “broke up”. so much fun, as their shows always were. trevor is such a great frontman, and he has the most crowd interaction of any band i’ve ever seen. he looked very happy, having a great time. there was a meet and greet after the show, and i think it’s pretty incredible how he remembers us from so long ago, and always treats us really great. he had a little rant during the show, about how bands get screwed by record companies, and managers, and promoters, etc etc etc, and it reminded me of what trent had been talking about recently in australia. it was amusing. trevor also said there’d be a new album in the fall. exciting hehe. on the way home we wondered what it might sound like, hoping it goes back to the more edgy roots of the earlier albums instead of the pop-y sound of “Brand new history”. we’ll see. finally bought the purge cd, it was only 10$ and you can’t find it anywhere. had something to sign at the m&g.

setlist was pretty great. lots of affliction songs, which sounded great. the new guitarist uses a bow on the guitar for “nowhere now”. the songs sounded a bit different compared to how ziggy would play them. and the guitarist looked really familiar – but we decided he reminded us of the original singer from drowning pool, and the singer of smash mouth. one bad thing….the set list was taped to the wall so we saw it as soon as we got there…and the closing song was razorblades and bandaids. YES!!! except, AGAIN, just like the shows 6 years ago, for whatever reason they didn’t play it. grrrrrrrrrrr. i was gonna yell at trevor about it, but then when we were talking he was just too cute, and friendly for me to yell hehe. i’ll have to do it on myspace. right after the show started this kid jumps in front of us…k we were at the front, but there’s no gap for a barrier, there’s just the stage…and it’s tall. so we had stepped back to see better, and he jumps in front of us. whatever. except he was a fucking spaz, totally going nuts. this was not normal “rocking out”…i was seriously defending myself from a black eye or getting teeth knocked out. and had he done it, he would have lost a ball or two. on top of that he smelled…that “havent washed my hair in a month” greasy smell. barf. eventually he left for a beer and we didn’t let him back in front of us. then waiting to talk to trevor, he cuts in front of us… and i yelled YOU CUT IN FRONT OF US DURING THE SHOW AND YOU’RE DOING IT AGAIN WHAT THE FUCK! but he wasn’t paying attention to me. grrr.

econoline crush

june 24, 2001 – Totally disturbing dream. It was very movie like. I was at school, it looked more like a high school than college. Bono was one of the professors. Danielle and I were in the dining hall getting food, it must have been the first day or something because we didn’t quite know what line to go in, etc. There were lots of people there looking around for what kind of food there was. Then Danielle was like, this place is retarded, you can only get like 1 food item in each line, so if you want a whole meal you have to go in all these different lines. I cut in line in front of a bunch of people to get in line with Danielle for some kind of noodles. Then cut to next scene. I was (or it was more like a camera) was looking at the building, and there was this giant tree outside, right up against the building, almost like ivy, but it definitely was a tree. At one point the tree had been some big monster. Well it came alive again and it had a face like the scary old tree character that used to be in McDonald’s play lands that talked, or those talking trees in Wizard of Oz. It had a face, and it started moving the branches. They were like big scary arms. Well the arms/branches moved in front of one of the windows it was next to (it was inbetween 2 sets of windows). Some kids saw it move and they got scared. Then it went back to playing dead. Cut to some other scene I don’t remember. Cut back to tree. The tree then moved its other arm/branches in front of the other window. Now lots of people were realizing that the monster tree was alive again. It was only moving a little bit and then back to its original position because it needed to gain strength. Then it had gotten some strength back, and it smacked its right arm/branch into the classroom window and shattered it all over the students inside. Now people were way scared of the tree again. So the people near the window on the other side of the classroom decided to push the glass out of the window so that the tree couldn’t smash that one too, but when they were pushing on it a bunch of kids fell out of the window with the glass and died. Cut to a city street. There was a woman walking across the street. She was lost, or some how out of place in the scene. She was black, and she was in a black neighborhood. Well she crossed the street and there were 2 younger black kids/men standing there. They sorta frightened her, and so she crossed back across the street again. She was looking for directions or something, and she felt threatened by the 2 kids so she didn’t want to ask them. Cut to the tree again causing mayhem. Cut back to the woman, shes crossing the street again, and there is an old man crossing. She holds out her hand to shake hands with him, so she could ask him directions, but he pulls out a gun and shoots her. So she staggers in the street, and she has 2 bullet holes in her shirt.

By now in the dream I’m kinda scared, it’s nightmare-ish, very disturbing, so I think “insert Trevor”. So I try to make Trevor Hurst get into the dream somehow to make it not scary anymore. But it doesn’t work and it cuts back to the woman in the street shot. No one is helping her, and she is bleeding. I keep thinking “insert Trevor” but it doesn’t work. Eventually my alarm went off.

October 30, 2001 – i was at an outdoor concert. i’m not sure where it was. but it was supposed to rain so they had moved the concert from its original location to a place that was outdoors, but where the stage was set up, the band wouldn’t get wet if it rained. it was an orgy concert. i decided that i wasn’t going to go up front for the concert, i was going to go on the balcony, which wasn’t a balcony but it was my front porch and it was only slightly elevated so that i could see over the crowd. so orgy was playing, and jay gordon saw me and smiled. then throughout the show he kept gesturing to me and making motions where it was obvious he knew me. so there was a point in the show inbetween songs and jay started talking, and said everyone should turn around and look at me, because i had provided the totally awesome picture of Kirk. so everyone looked at me and everyone started clapping so i kinda bowed. this entire time, the members of econoline crush are sitting on chairs on the side of the stage as if they were on a talk show. and so i kept looking over at them too, and they recognized me as well. i guess they were on after orgy. so orgy finished, and the concert workers said they were moving locations again since it wasn’t going to rain anymore. so EC was like, dude, just let us play here, why move again. and i was like yeah, last time they played here it was 100 degrees outside, let them perform on a stage that’s in the shade. So trevor looked over at me talking, and he’s like Hi there, Sara right? and i’m like yeah, woah you know my name. and so i was talking to trevor who was still sitting with the rest of the band discussing what they were going to do for their show. so I said, you can play an all acoustic set, that’d be alright with me. i smiled at them and trevor and johnny laughed. johnny had cut all his hair off, like it was a brush cut, and i was like nooo i loved your hair before!! it was like, i was a very important person that entire day at the concert, everyone knew me, and i felt like i had the ability to tell people what to do. so i told EC again, that it’d be ok with me if they just did a whole acoustic set. and so Trevor gets a guitar and he comes up on the front porch and sits on the bench. no one else is up there with me anymore. so he’s like, well what do you want us to play, and I said Razorblades and Bandaids, and he’s like hmm, ok. I’m like yeah if you remember how to play it, and then he took out a lyric sheet and was going to play it.

then i was still dreaming, but it was like i woke up, and danielle was telling me her dream. i was really annoyed because her talking to me was making me forget my dream. so i was like dude, i gotta type this up on my site cuz it was so great. so then i went to type it up on my site, and somehow it turned into a U2 concert also. So i was typing out how it was a U2 concert, and that the 4 of them were sitting on chairs like they were on a talk show too. Then i was at another concert, which i guess was the opener for this whole string of concerts. It was a band with 3 people, and the song was familiar but i didn’t know who it was. At first i thought it was offspring, then i thought it was eve 6, but then as the drummer distroyed his drum kit, the announcers said it was Gob (?). then it was supposed to be EC.

and now i forgot the whole 2nd part of the dream, crap. there was a big part with u2, and another part with EC…crap. crap crap.

october 10, 2001 – there was a concert in a book or cd store in geneseo. there were all kinds of bands playing, but no one was really there to see the show. econoline crush was playing, and no one knew who they were except me and my friends. sometimes i was the only one there that knew them, and sometimes my friends were there. so econoline was playing, and they were only playing songs off affliction, but they played 3 songs i didn’t know. so i asked them what the songs were, because they weren’t on my copy of affliction. dan said they were on affliction and i must have a different version. so i asked to see the copy of the cd he was holding. it was black and white artwork, but the pages were all photo copied as if it was a bootleg. so then dan took it and put it back on the shelf. so they finished playing, and took their equiptment away, and i went to talk to them. i saw johnny, so i went to talk to him, asked him how things had been going since i last saw them etc. it was like catching up with an old friend. then i went to talk to dan. he gave me a hug and kissed me on the head…he was taller than me, which isn’t true in real life. so i was talking to him, i asked him why they cancelled the other show i was supposed to go to but neither one of us could remember what the date of it was, so he didn’t remember why it was cancelled. i realized i was wearing my pajama shirt, it had this ugly floursecent colored sun on it, and i had it on inside out…so i was embarrased about that. so then i guess i decided to show them around the town. so me, dan, johnny, mark, danielle and adrienne all smooshed into my little car. i didn’t know where to take them, so i was feeling kinda embarassed that the town is so boring. i guess i decided to take them to main street. then we were in a farmer’s market, and it was really crowded. they enjoyed it though, and dan bought a bushel of tomatos. johnny was looking around, and me and mark decided to wait outside since there were so many people around. since i never really talk to mark in real life, in the dream i didn’t know what to talk to him about. so i just asked him how everything was going with him etc. then they were all finished, so we left. i guess i wanted to go back to my room to change, so we went to the dorm. danielle and i lived in a corridor style room like in Blake Hall, but it had 3 beds, and was a big room. i dont know where dan, johnny, and mark went, but they didn’t come to the room. then trevor showed up, peeked his head in the open door. so i was like hey trevor, how the hell did you find us here? because he hadn’t originially come with us. he said he had been following us. so i invited trevor in, and he looked really amazingly gorgeous, he had eyeliner on, and stuff.

November 19, 2001 – 1. it was trevor’s birthday, so a bunch of us girls went to see him. he lived near us, so we went to his house. but it was set up like a science class room – a lab table with sink in the front of the room near the boards, then desks facing the front. so trevor was behind the desk thing, and we were all sitting in the desks, or leaning on the lab table to talk (flirt) with him. he was surprised that we all remembered his birthday. then one of the girls had a big sign, as if we were going to a concert. it had this blonde woman on it who looked like farah faucett. trevor had left the room to get something, so i asked the girl wtf she had that sign. she said it was trevor’s girlfriend. and i was like, i thought he was dating that kelly person, and that kelly person didn’t look like that. she said no it was his new girlfriend. i still didn’t quite know why she had this sign with pictures of his girlfriend on it. so then trevor came back..with his girlfriend, who had brown hair, but apparantly it was the same person that was on the poster. his girlfriend was a singer too i guess, so we watched her music video, and i thought it sucked. but i befriended her, and was going to take her around town to show her the sites.
2. partly related to 1…..i had finally finished taking trevor’s girlfriend around and it was really late, but i went home. i lived in one giant room with 2 other girls and i had to share a bed with one of them. she was still awake because she was pissed i hadn’t come home yet. she thought i had been with trevor. but i said no i hadn’t been with him. so i got into bed, and the girl was the blond haired little girl that stuffed her bra from the movie Then and Now…she covered my eyes with her hand, because i guess there was stuff going on in the room that i wasn’t supposed to see. there were all these people coming in, and they were robbing us..no they weren’t robbing us, but they had robbed something and were putting the things in suitcases to make a break for it. then trevor’s girlfriend was one of them, and so i was like WTF trevor is going to be so mad when he finds out his girlfriend is a criminal.

april 13, 2002 – i was at an econoline crush concert. it was in like, a basement of someone’s house. they did the beginning of the set, which was supposedly only stuff from Purge. i was hanging around the back of the room, by a table. there was a notebook where i had drawn the word Peaches, and doodled around it. apparently it was a name of some band i liked. this girl asked me if peaches was one of the last bands i like. i was like no way i like, like 50 bands, just 3 that i like a real lot. then EC went on intermission, and i went outside to near where the bus was. they had taken out all their towels and pillows and folded them on the ground. so i was going through them, don’t know why, and i grabbed some pillows to take back inside so i could be comfortable laying on the ground watching the concert. so i went back inside, and trevor was walking around. ziggy was on stage playing drums, and another guy who was a new guy in the band was playing guitar. they were actually playing a song, and someone was singing but it wasn’t trevor. or he was a ventriliquist. then people started coming back in so i moved to the front. adr showed up and i was like, they got a new guy to replace dan. but then we realized the only 2 original memebers there were trevor and ziggy. but we couldn’t remember who was missing. finally we realized that johnny wasn’t there, and that’s why ziggy was playing drums. he had all kinds of weird gadgets on the drums to make them sound different, and he didn’t actually have real drums. it was just this electronic platform thing that looked like a keyboard that he’d hit with drumsticks.

Econoline Crush at the Evening Star

well tonight (er last night i guess lol) was the econoline show. i think this was the biggest stretch of time this year between EC shows..it was weird because i had forgotten how happy they make me. so it was really cool seeing them again. didn’t talk to them at all really. saw trevor, said hi, shook hands, but that was it. the show was at a really crappy bar in a crappy hotel on the blvd. got there around 6… joe had just gotten back from taking trevor to the mall LOL…yeah. he took Trevor to the mall. then we went inside and sat at the bar for 2 hrs. doors were at 8, we ended up on the guest list even tho dan wasn’t there…trevor got 5 of us in. THANKS TREVOR! anyway…there were 2 opening bands… Lucid and um..i forget the other bands name… Mudmen…anyway. it was Lucid’s first show ever…but they seemed way too professional to have never played together live before..whatever. the Mudmen were…interesting. they had 2 huge ogre fat men playing bag pipes…then their sound was kinda punkish, kinda hard…i can only say interesting. since the show was at this bar, the stage was only 2 feet off the ground, no barrier. so we were standing there against the stage. it was like, if i had gotten pushed i would have been on stage. it was really weird to be THAT close…cuz i was really selfconscious about what i was doing, and it was hard to do any of the whole arm waving, clapping, etc kind of thing without hitting the singer LOL…ANYWAY…the mudmen singer, he was kinda cute…and like twice he was singing at me. no lie, this isn’t one of those “omg he looked at me” kind of things. this is like, 2 times, he kinda stooped down and stared right at me and sang…it was strange, cuz like i didn’t know what to do. it wasn’t like i knew the band, and could sing along and have a “moment” with the singer…so i kinda just laffed at him LOL. the 2nd time i saw adrienne lean over and look at me while the singer dude was singing at me. but yeah, they were interesting.

EC was great as always. FINALLY PLAYED A FULL SET! lol…16 songs i think. yeah…no razorblades  but it was good… played home, and riverside, and all the songs i would have wanted to hear besides razorblades and the songs that i know they’d never in a million years play (stuff off affliction)…yeah trevor’s crotch was right at face level the entire time…not complaining LOL but kinda awkward sometimes. it was weird being so close. johnny and mark had sparkles all over them, it was cute lol…anyway, good show as always. happy happy

we have no hot water. isn’t that nice? i called emergency maintenece at 8 am…it’s 10…they haven’t come yet. or if they did, they haven’t fixed anything, because we still have no hot water. no one took a shower today, needless to say. it’s probably just the pilot light or something… well actually it’s kinda weird, because the water gets warm… and now i’m talking slightly above freezing point warm, not like, ok this is useable kind of warm. and it’ll get this slightly warm temperature for a few seconds, and then goes cold. almost like there is a big hole somewhere, spurting out all our hot water, instead of sending it to the sink. some of the hot water gets through, the rest is flooding something somewhere. like maybe our storage room. i should go look at that (we have a nice huge wheel valve in our storage room on this huge pipe…don’t know what it’s for, i’m assuming water.)

rt.. bono sounds stuffed up in this song (do you feel loved?)…like he’s got a bit of a cold lol…and that reminds me

all my mp3s are screwed up. carolyn downloaded do you feel loved live for me the other day, sent it to me, i listened to it, yeah. i decided it was ok, so i kept the mp3. i played it yesterday, and it was only a minute and a half long. what the hell is that?! i swear it was a full mp3 when she sent it to me. if it wasn’t i would have told her it was cut off and to find another one for me. but obviously i didn’t, so it must have been fine. now it’s only half of the song, not even….and i had an mp3 of u2’s WTC telethon performance. i dled it from some site, didn’t listen to it until last night. it stops after “peace on earth”…doesn’t go into “walk on”…the title of the file said it’s the entire thing…but not the mp3 i have. so now i don’t know if something ate half of that mp3 too, or if it was always like that… and i have no viruses that would be chompin on half my mp3s…arg.

ok i’m not supposed to take any naproxin today for my shoulder, cuz i was only supposed to take 2 a day for a week. he gave me 2 weeks worth of pills tho, to take whenever it hurts… so the question is, should i take one today or no?…maybe i’ll just wait awhile. it’s not in pain right now, but my neck is kinda going numb….i’m dying. i swear.

what else was i going to talk about? OH YEAH! this gross old guy talked to me today. he’s in my criminal justice class. he is the perfect picture of a “2 pack a day i’m dying of lung cancer” old man. he’s probably in his 50s, i mean maybe he could be younger and just decrepit from all the cigarettes he’s smoked, i dunno…but he looks older than my parents… face all sunken in, really skinny, grey hair etc. school has been in session for over a month now, we have class twice a week, yet today i walk in and he all happily goes “good morning” to me… well i was totally thrown off. so i’m like all cheery “morning!”…yeah that was weird, he didn’t say a word to anyone else who walked in and sits in our area….then he kinda kept turning around to look at me, and it’s like EW wtf, leave me alone! so then of course, i was paranoid that he was going to follow me after class and talk to me or something, so i booked out of there, and went and checked my mail so if he was following me, i’d lose him. lol. i’m a freak.

fyi i have changed my cds again! currently there is NO u2 in my stereo! **shock**….we’ve got tool – lateralus, econoline crush – brand new history and a perfect circle – mer de noms

oh god, katie is playing disturbed, must turn up stereo…damn quiet tool song! louder! louder! *insert beavis and butthead sound byte here*

thesabresedge.com does these funny top 10 lists about various things… their current one is how the sabres are going to help fight terrorism.. this is one of the more amusing ones they’ve had, and i found number 7 to be incredibly amusing
Number 7…
Sneaking original Marine Midland Arena maintenance workers into Afghanistan, having them construct giant Jumbotron over Taliban headquarters.

ec’s “brand new history” is a total summer flashback cd…it’s strange. lol. ahh memories 😛 and omg “by the riverside” is totally a may/exam week flashback…cuz it was exam week when i did the 3 ec shows in 3 nights, with my personality final exam inbetween, and i couldn’t concentrate on studying AT all…and packing my room up to move back home. omg this is like one of the biggest song flashbacks i’ve ever gotten! lol

Econoline Crush at Playdium

econoline crush -playdium -missassaugua, ontario – august 2, 2001

thanks to dan and joe again.

Joe invited me as part of his guest list allowance to go to the show. so of course i wasn’t going to pass that up. we went up there with 2 of his friends, got a bit lost, found it eventually. the playdium is like a big fun center. there’s mini golf and gokarts and stuff.

So we found the bus and Dan was outside so we talked to him for a big, johnny came out to say hi, got a hug, talked a bit. they left to get ready for the show, we went inside during smoother. Smoother i guess is from Hamilton. They were really young. not bad, but not my thing.

now i was supposed to meet heather at the show, by the bathrooms, at 8:45 because Dan had initially said they were playing around 9. Well i didn’t find any bathrooms, and they went on around 8:15. Not good. So i tried to look for her during smoother, and during EC and after but never found her.

The show was good, except it was too hot, and this fucknut kid messed everything up. They were supposed to do 16 songs, they did 11. After Wicked they left the stage, and this kid came out onstage and did his thing about thanks to these ppl and the playdium and that EC would be signing autos at the booth in 5 min. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO AN ENCORE U RETARD! So he totally fucked things up and ruined the end of the show, which was the best part of the set. I got Trevor’s setlist from the roadie. here it is

sparkle and shine surefire
sinking
you don’t know what it’s like
flamethrower
all that you are
trash
my salvation

tdm
wicked
encore that wasn’t played:
by the riverside
the devil you know
home
burnt
may i go

they never play burnt! grrrr so we were pissed about that. in the crowd we were standing with a couple of other people we know from buffalo, and some other ppl who are always on the guest list. We were all waiting for the encore, and were like wtf…

so after they did the autograph thing, and me and Joe waited around in there looking for heather, but then we got kicked out by security. So we went back to the bus and sat on the curb there. a few other kids showed up at the bus and we talked to them. EC came back changed, came out and did their thing with the fans. took a few pictures of this kid from kitchener and various band members, Joe and trevor and me and Dan only 6 pics tho so won’t be developed for a while. The band was pissed about the fucked up encore thing, and the kid who did it was there and apologized to them and felt really bad. BUT SO WHAT U RUINED THE REST OF THE SHOW! grrrr. but yeah, we hung around and talked to Johnny for a while more, more hugs, then they had to leave cuz they were flying to Regina.

Dan said they were going to Regina, i responded, where’s that. He thought i was insane that I didn’t know where it was, and i’m like HELLO IM NOT CANADIAN! and hes like oooh yah i forgot u guys are from america. hah.

So it was cool, sucks about the encore and not finding heather, but oh well. it was still good.
