grr i said fuck it and listened to the leak of nin’s “My Violent Heart”. I shouldn’t have. that’s all i’m really gonna say. oh who am i kidding? can hear a saul williams influence on it BIG time. the spoken word, the back beat etc. i don’t know. i just don’t know. i’m not sure if this makes me excited or not. maybe this will be like the fragile, where it’s hard to listen to a single song from that album, outside of the context of the whole package. i guess that’s where i am after 1 listening. :-/ i’ve always said i could listen to trent talk for ages, so yeah i admit, the spoken word is quite teh hotness.

i admit this whole ARG/viral marketing stuff is pretty clever, tho it’s gotten way too involved for me to continue paying attention. and i don’t feel like i’m missing out of anything because i’m not participating.

i have to say, the burst of static at the end of the My Violent Heart leaked mp3 produces quite the image when you do spectral analysis of the ending burst of static

and that’s pretty clever. that’s the only word i can think of to describe all of this,( though it’s been done before by Aphex Twin). clever (how’s that working out for you?). oh, and the image, it’s supposedly of The Presence which is talked about in the ARG. creepy.

and as far as the leak is concerned…it was pretty much done on purpose, which is how i justify listening to it haha. the song was found on a usb/flash drive left in the mens bathroom at the lisbon concert – with more of these drives showing up in the mens room of the madrid show too.

jenn reminded me tonight that i am still waiting to hear whatever it is James has to say to me, that he’s wanted to say since halloween. usually when you have something to say to someone you try to do it in a timely manner.

in other news i got to hang out with josh/curious george for a half hour in my car in the parking lot of a gas station on friday. hahah. oh david, i’m supposed to tell you josh climbed his way into TS this summer. he said you’d be so pissed cuz you hate him.

they made a movie about the Zodiac killer. initially i was really excited because Zodiac is my favourite serial killer. but then i remembered the last movie i saw about a famous serial killer – Summer of Sam – and how absolutely terrible it was. i hope Zodiac is better and not one giant 5 hour cocaine orgy.

thinking about this nin viral marketing campaign for year zero….a concept album…and somehow i think this term has a different meaning this time, than when “concept album” was used to describe The Fragile.

and i’m getting more and more scared of it. cuz…styx did a 1984-esque concept album. and we got domo arigoto mr roboto. and then we have the queen musical “we will rock you” – “The time is the future, in a place that was once called Earth. Globalisation is complete! Everywhere, the kids watch the same movies, wear the same fashions and think the same thoughts.” – but it’s fucking Queen who never ever took themselves seriously. they used imagery from Metropolis – yet another 1984 esque storyline – in their video for Radio GaGa. what else would you expect from them? (so looking forward to it!!)

what if trent went completely nutso on us, and comes out with this wack ass piece of shit concept album. what if when he finally starts playing songs from the new album we get this lame-o almost musical production. like…none of this fits into what i think of as nine inch nails. not like it really matters but, if this album isn’t amazing, he’s going to get totally trashed in the music world…i think the whole thing is weird, because with teeth was so much more accessible than the fragile, and i think he got some new fans because of it, and now some weird concept album about future world with all this 1984 type nonsense….as far as concept albums go, me thinks it really needs to be on the level of The Wall to be taken seriously. i dunno. i just dunno. call me a heretic. won’t be the first time 🙂

or this could be completely meaningless, and just due to the fact that any new nin album scares me. i was scared about with teeth too. what if i don’t like it?

i had been planning on going to the mall tomorrow to shop for the trip, but we got a nice 6 inch blanket of snow, with more to come tomorrow so now i’m not sure. may just go down the street to carl’s and get a tattoo. i should have done it today when i drove by but i didn’t for some reason. whatever.

i just want a freaking new album, and not some big game and conspiracy crap. i paid attention to thepurification.org nonsense late last year, and this sort of ARG/viral marketing stuff doesn’t really interest me anymore. *edit* well i guess it’s SORTA interesting, but still…sorta pointless.

and bible quotes? come on now, if trent found god i’m going to have some serious issues in continuing to be a fan. seriously. maybe they were putting this Parepin drug in the water in New Orleans and it made people like Anne Rice and Trent find god….

oh jesus christ i apparently have to stop reading ninhotline cuz they’re telling me more songs that have been played, and dear god it just keeps getting better… ruiner and we’re in this together. holy fucking shit.

i didn’t want to look at a setlist, and i haven’t, but sarah/the wretched told me, and the ninhotline confirmed, trent played “last” tonight in lisbon…holy. fucking. shit….

checking to see if the closure burns had sound cuz they dont when played on my comp. but they do on the tv. so i went to find the easter eggs. oh dear god, dance party usa. and sex dwarf (apparently no one knows what the song is), and flight attendants. haha. adr2 and bliss, come over so we can watch! i don’t want to watch alone. haha.

for christmas trent leaked the closure dvd to the internet, as he calls it, a “guilt free” download.  it’s 7.7 freaking gigs, dual layer. the exterior of my dvd burner says “dual RW drive double layer” so that means i can burn this bad boy? someone with more knowledge on this stuff please tell me. it’ll take me a year and a day to get the file. and i dunno if theres something special i have to do to get it to burn right, or if nero will automatically know, but how do you burn a 7.7 gig file onto a 4 gig dvd??? the download keeps stopping and i don’t even have even a byte of data apparently – it either gives an error message as unable to open file, or downloader unexpectedly quit. is that a torrent tracker problem or a problem on my end?…but NEEEEEED! maybe now i’ll actually watch closure. vhs is so annoying 😛

2-27-07….adr2 you better get that day off work. it’s dvd watching day! (or take the 26th off, i’ll be able to get the dvd a day early) the track listing includes super hot with teeth. gah and it includes bonus tracks from the summer tour, super hot closer. and gaaaah somewhat damaged thank you thank you thank you trent.

and there apparently is an evil dead musical?
