Tool @ Copps

tool. gah! so great!

eric and i went to Tully’s for dinner before the show. they sat us in a section with no waiter, so we were sitting there for 10 min before anyone came to ask us if we had seen anyone. so this kid took drink orders, and the mgr came over and was like blah blah blah sorry, we’ll pay for your drinks and you can order any appetizer you want. so we were like rad, we were going to get potato skins. so the waiter who was now taking care of us came back and we told him what we wanted, he said…well if you’re getting it for free you might as well order the most expensive appetizer we have. haha it was a sampler thing, so we got that. we had so much food LOL. it was great. took tons home, and our bill was 16$ lol. we left him a 6$ tip.

came back to my house to wait for muhammed and his girlfriend jenn. headed out to the falls, cuz mom said the lewiston bridge was hella backed up. rainbow was fine, little bit of a wait at the booth, no biggie. then we got pulled over and searched LOL. no biggie either, we had nothing to hide. just a time waster.

got to hamilton around 7:30 i guess, and found where we had to go in and everything. tickets said 8 pm, i assumed doors at 7. don’t know when they actually opened – there were tons of people outside still, but when we got in around 8 and found our seats, we managed to only see the last Tomahawk song (no loss there, sounded shitty anyway). but we were like woah, talk about perfect timing. and lemme tell you about the seats we had. omg. they were perfect. they were 1 section over from what would be right next to the stage. we had row 13, which would be fine anyway, but turns out we were on the edge of the front, because they removed the lower seating in that area. so we had a railing in front of us, and no one else obstructing our view. it couldn’t have been anymore perfect. go me and my ticket buying skills haha.

tool fucking rocked. maynard has the most amazing voice. during “The grudge” he holds this note/scream and me and eric just looked at eachother and were like o.m.g. haha. maynard is such a freak tho. performed the entire set with his back to the audience, standing on a platform back by the drum kit. never saw his face til the end, when he was throwing water bottles into the crowd, and he had painted a black stripe down the middle of his face and head. haha. he reminds me of someone from blue man group, he’s such a spaz. so it rocked. they sounded great, and they had cool video things playing with their funky animation things. it was an awesome, awesome show.

David Bowie @ Area 2

back.

sunday: worked til 6. it was fun. i don’t remember why but things at work have been pretty good lately. i worked with cool people. i think that was why. i was in my car leaving for toronto at exactly 6, and i pulled into carolyn’s driveway at exactly 7:30. go me. and i even got lost too. because if you take the bayview south exit, you can’t go north like carolyn said. but you can take the bayview north exit ๐Ÿ˜› now i know. once i got to carolyn’s we went to eat at the usual pub place. had awful service, left virtually no tip lol. then back to carolyn’s house. we watched the u2 specials she taped for me, which was rad. and then watched this old episode of 90210 that happened to be on the tape. that led to the major revelation of the day…..i know i’ve mentioned ultra hot server, and i think i mentioned that i couldn’t figure out who he reminded me of….figured it out….he looks exactly like Brian Austin Green (david from 90120)…so from now on, ultra hot server is known as david lol. anyway. so i was falling asleep all night cuz i was dead tired from work and then driving, so after watching half of Batman Forever on TNN, went to bed.

monday: woke up around 11 i think. got ready to go to Area 2. we decided that we didn’t want to spend from 2:30 to whenever bowie was on at the ampitheatre if you couldn’t bring in food or drink. so instead we bummed around downtown toronto for a while, hit a few cd stores, eaton center etc. had lunch at Zelda’s which is in the gayborhood, and owned by a drag queen. it was a fun place. there was this weird lady sitting next to us, and she wouldn’t leave. lol. eventually we made our way to the ampitheatre, i think around 5. ended up catching half of Ash’s set, and all of Blue Man Group. yeah…blue man group…does not translate to the concert stage. if that was the only time you were going to see them, it’s not worth it. they are so much better in the theatre. on a concert stage they had to make it more musical, they had a band, and just did alot of music stuff. in the theatre they were completely wacked out lol. so not impressed with their performance there. then david bowie came on. we were like ?!?! it’s still light out, it was like 7pm, and he was on already? what happened to Busta Rhymes? well apparently Busta wasn’t allowed over the border LOL. so bowie went on early, and played a longer set compared to the setlists that have been posted on davidbowie.com. BOWIE ROCKED. it was so good. he was so adorable. he talked alot between songs, was really funny, and he has a super accent. highlight was probably “i’m afraid of americans” and not just cuz of the trent thing… it was really good, and the crowd went nuts for it. “china girl” was good, so was “let’s dance” …it was all good. at one point he borrowed sunglasses from some girl up front, cuz the sun was shining in his bad eye LOL. it was just really great. bowie is great. so then we left. LOL. didn’t even bother to stay for even 1 moby song. soooo many people left after bowie too it was crazy. poor moby lol. so back at carolyn’s we ended up watching the end of batman forever, which was on a different station but happened to be at the part where we had turned it off the night before. weird. oh yeah, i ran into trish, from high school, at area 2. haven’t seen her in 3 years or so. talked to her for a few minutes, she seems to be doing pretty good.

tuesday: left carolyn’s at 12 and made my way to oakville to heather’s house. she followed me back to my house, where we hung about for a while until we had to go to the airport. went to the airport, picked up Ty, and headed for dinner…where else… hard rock. 2 reasons. my discount and the fact that it’s next to the rainbow bridge so they could hop right over back to canada, without me needing to give them directions from my house. so good time there of course. they’ll be back down monday to do the falls tourist stuff, cuz Ty has never been to NY before. and now i’m home.

my car will hit 10,000 miles by the end of the week, a little over a year and a month since i got the car. not bad. hehe. i work the next 5 days in a row (i’m going to die)…i totally forgot danielle is leaving friday. we have to do something tomorrow cuz it’s the only day i don’t work at night. blah. i was going to see if i could get out early on saturday so i could go to brooke’s housewarming party, but i dunno. i’m going to see if someone will switch shifts with me on thursday so i can go out with danielle on her last day here. my schedule sucks.

the tea party @ hamilton

work was slow. i finally remembered to wear a watch, and i didn’t even need it cuz we didn’t wait on tables all night. got to work with the new kid (haha i’m not a new kid anymore since someone was hired after me). he is really beautiful. he has the most perfect face. but he’s an ass…i had to close by myself tonight and i just hope i remembered to do everything. i’m pretty sure that the guy i think is so cute is single. one of the servers was talking about how she met his mom today, and his mom was saying how all she wants is for her son to find a nice girlfriend. the server was like, “So if anyone is single, i’ll help you out with him.” but i still think there is a possibility he’s gay hahah. my gaydar doesn’t go off really, but…dunno. could be. also, the server could have been talking about someone else with his name, but i don’t think there are more than one working there. and i’m actually the only sara at work. that never happens.

i did the most beautiful parallel park today. i was very proud of myself. haha. i’m getting pretty good at parallel parking on the opposite side of the road, although that’s not what i did today.

well i guess i’m going to hamilton tonight to see the tea party again. joe is going up with janet and mike, and invited me. since i’m not going to vanilla ice anymore, why not hehe. good thing i didn’t tell them i’d work today if they needed me (since i called in wed). and the show is free, which is always good lol.

i forgot to mention last night, that it was so dead at work, me and the other 2 hosts played jenga with the crayons…even our manager played with us haha. and they showed the inxs “disappear” video, which i had never seen before – i’ve only seen the remix video on the greatest video hits vhs. so that was cool. hutch was so hot.

dude my throat hurts so friggen bad. it kept me up and woke me up all night. and my fucking head. i want to rip it off. i’m so tired of my headaches!!!!

since i haven’t really slept all week i have a bad memory. so i forgot to mention that my manager james partied with shakira last year down in columbia or someplace. haha

my mom wanted to go look at hard rock merchandise since i get a discount, so we went down there even tho it’s my day off. and she didn’t buy anything. we went in the other souvenir shops too, and one of them had a bunch of fake new york state license plates. one of them said “I <3 U2” on it. i was like wtf LOL. it was 9 bucks, when everything goes onsale in the off season i’m gonna have to invest in it cuz it’s so delightfully cheesey hahah.

my parents locked me out tonight. got home at quarter to 2, and the screen door was locked. super. so instead of ringing the doorbell and waking them up to let me in, i tried to go in through the side garage door. thankfully the garbage cans were not right up against it, so i was able to get in. of course, stuff was piled behind my dad’s car, which i proceeded to trip over. if they heard the commotion in the garage they probably thought someone was breaking in.

but anyway. tea show. it was me, joe, janet and mike. it was free as part of hamilton’s aquafest. the full 9 opened for them, again. it was funny. everyone was sitting on the grass during their set, and we were up front sitting against the barrier. when they went to start their song “coffee”, the singer dude was like “this is going to be our next single” and janet yells coffee. he’s like “yeah you’re right, i love you guys” and pointed to us. we were like um yeah we were sorta making fun of you. it’s not our fault we’ve seen you 4 times and that you haunt us like velour haha. anyway….

tea was good. this was probably the best show of the 7 i’ve seen. jeff martin sounded really good, alot more emotional than previous shows. the setlist was more or less the same – no apathy, and i think they played something else but i forget. crowd got bitchy, a girl’s pants started on fire from someone’s cigarette, assholes later started the grass on fire (which was scary cuz the whole place could have gone up it was so dry), but as soon as it got pushy VOOM joe and mike had me and janet caged in and protected hehe. so i didn’t really get touched. there was definitely more crowd interaction at this show than any other. jeff was actually making eye contact with people in the front. he made eye contact with janet during angels, and me during heaven coming down. heaven coming down was just bizzare. i was thinking before the encore that i could do without that song, but then they were playing it and it really hit me for some reason. i actually had to hold myself back from crying. i don’t know why really. the barrier sucked. anytime anyone pushed it moved, the security guards spent their time pushing it back against us so it wouldn’t break. it makes me adore the water street carpeted barrier that is indestructable haha.

so the show was good. we made good time home until the bridge where there was 1 customs lane open, and people were being complete assholes and driving up close to the booth and then trying to get over into the lane. we were there for a half hour. joe and i went to dennys for food when we got back. and now i’m home. i’m tired, but i know i won’t be able to sleep again. my throat hurts, and my voice is like an octave lower than it usually is from being sick, and the concert. haha i sound great ๐Ÿ˜› can’t wait for work tomorrow.

oh yeah, there was this sorta cute security guard at the show. he made me realize i seem to have a thing for eyebrow rings lately. cuz he had one, and work-boy has one. haha work-boy’s one is so nice ๐Ÿ™‚

Friendship Fest with David Usher

haha “i dont see nothing wrong, with a little bump and grind….with 12 year olds” haha sorry. this commercial is on for Monsta Jamz, and it has a pretty decent tracklist, one of them being r kelly. i couldn’t resist ๐Ÿ™‚

anyway. long day. work was good. i didn’t get validated (tested) today, but my trainer said i knew everything. so i guess i’ll do it tomorrow. i work 5 – 12 tomorrow. after work, got my free food, raced home to leave for friendship fest. it was this chick holly something, edwin, and david usher. we got there around 7:30 i think, mid holly set, found joe and mary up front. the holly chick was decent, for a girl singer haha. edwin was up next. didn’t really care for them. they blew the PA out twice, then towards the end of their set someone threw a rock onstage, hit edwin in the head, causing him to gush blood everywhere. so he ran off stage, the band took off after him. the crowd was surrounding whoever it was who threw it. some of the band members came back onstage, and then jumped off to go beat the shit out of the kid who threw it. edwin came back onstage to see what was going on, blood running all down his face. he was taken to the hospital for precautions but was ok. so obviously, that ended their set. david usher came out after that. another great show. he did his solo stuff, a few moist songs, and the rocking ozzy/pink mix of crazy train and get the party started. and of course, the show didn’t progress without an almost fight haha. crowd surfers started during the moist songs, one came by us and was dropped. so then they’re starting with eric
“wtf you took my buddies shoe?”
eric: “i didn’t take his fucking shoe”
the kid:”i saw you take it and throw it. why the fuck did you take his shoe?”
eric: “chill out, i didn’t fucking take his shoe. why would i want his shoe?”
of course, eric took the kids shoe ๐Ÿ™‚ hehe. the kids found the shoe when the mosh pit broke out behind us. i think it’s funny, and great, how my guy friends are protective of us girls at shows. as soon as the first crowd surfer started, eric moved behind danielle. i was ok, so it was all good. then when the shoe kids were behind us and stuff, i felt someone grabbing me. then i was like, oh it’s joe, and he pulled me between him and mary. haha so the 3 of us girls were all protected haha.

anyway, it was a good show. david usher always has alot of energy and stuff. sounded good. had a good time. but oh my god do i hurt. i stood for about 14 hours today. legs are so not happy!!

tea party @ arizonas

i’m getting REAAAAALLY tired of being rained on wherever i go. it’s gone a bit too far now. graduation rehersal, the falls after graduation, new orleans 3 times, moving my car in the hailstorm, coming home in the hailstorm, and tonight at the show.

the show was good. found joe and everyone when we got there. we were up front. like that’s a shock. full nine opened, after waiting forever, like a normal Arizona’s event. after them i was really tired of standing there, so i left, and went back by myself. got some water, etc. moved around a few times before tea came on. i ended up being befriended by a group of drunk people hahah. they’re like, come join us. there was one girl sober who talked to me before tea came on, she was cool. i think they were all near like 30, which was weird. i got to watch these 2 couples be drunk…they were two fatish balding older men with their piss ass drunk girlfriends(?)…but they were way liberal with the girlfriend sharing. i was like omg ew ur so gross. the drunk people made me dance with them. lol.

so the tea played a good show. it was weird tho, cuz of the rain. after apathy they took a break so they could do what had to be done so that they didn’t get electrocuted lol. and psychopomp was so great, cuz well the song is amazing, and it didn’t rain during the song except during jeff martin’s solo. it was like that a few other times too, kinda spooky. and then temptation was great, cuz the sky just opened up and it poured. everyone was singing and jumping around in the rain. there was no encore because “it was just too dangerous in the rain”….but by then the rain had stopped – it was off and on the whole time. and if anyone saw that MTV spring break show, bush played one year in a monsoon lol. they covered their guitars in plastic bags it was so bad. but whatever. it was good.

blah, hate being wet.

and oh yeah. who did i manage to park next to? STP kid…. CANNOT GET AWAY FROM HIM!!!!!!!!! he was with 2 of his cronies – one being AIDS boy who was involved in the water street altercation lol. at least stp kid doesn’t pretend to be our friend anymore. after the whole rick wanting to kick his ass in toronto, he’s left us alone. but he’s still there, still annoying and still ugly as hell. hahah

Static-X at Water Street

back from static x. it was rad. we went all out for the show, which is the first time we’ve done that in a long, long time…i think since APC march 2001. wow that IS a long time. i forgot how much i like doing it. i got to wear my new leather (plastic) pants…the non shiny black ones. and omg i love them so much. hahaha. so we headed up to eric’s and set out from there. we were late, doors were supposed to be at 6, but there was a huge line still. once inside we waited forever to be let upstairs to the balcony because no way was i going to get killed by all the 15 year olds being dickheads on the floor. and i realized 2 things. i need breast implants and i need to bleach my hair blond. because that way you get special treatment from security and get let into the balcony with all your friends before they open it to everyone else. but i shouldn’t complain, because after our bitching security noticed danielle and let the four of us up (me, her, eric and jason). but it’s all good cuz the whores got made fun of by wayne static. he called them handicapped because they were sitting down through the whole show. hahahah.

anyway…my taste in men just keeps getting weirder and weirder….so sinisstar played first. they came out, and the first thing i thought of when the guitarist came out was OMG HE’S HOT! he was wearing a dress. and really ripped tights, big black boots, leather shorts under the dress and a long sleeve shirt. and he had reaaaally long hair/dreds (couldn’t tell) and it was all done up on top too with shiny things (couldn’t tell). yeah and my first reaction is omg he is so hot. apparently his name is China…he reminds me of Twiggy from marilyn manson…but hot. lol. so while i thought they weren’t all that good, they were really entertaining (besides the hot dress wearing guitarist). i really don’t know what’s wrong with me ๐Ÿ™‚ but all i know is that if i had a boyfriend who was a cross dresser i wouldn’t care ahaha. i’d encourage it. AND DANIELLE THOUGHT HE WAS HOT TOO!!!! lol

after sinisstar was earshot. ok…anyone who thinks they sound like tool YOU COULDN’T BE ANY MORE WRONG! the music doesn’t sound like tool, and the singer DOES NOT sound like maynard. and they didn’t impress me at all. they seemed to be having some problems though…like out of tune and feedback and stuff, so i dunno. maybe it was just a bad show.

so staticx came on after an hour…dunno why it took so long but whatever. it was really fun. they were having fun on stage, goofing off, and it was a good time. tripp (guitarist, ex-dope member) is so cute/insane. he was crawling over everything, took a strole on the bar during one song and wayne didn’t know where he had gone to. and he kept eating pixi stix lol. he threw a bunch in the audience too. they were just really entertaining and fun. so i’m glad i went. it was interesting seeing the floor from above…looking down on the pit and stuff. it’s really surprising more people don’t end up dead. oh and on the way out we saw a 7 year old girl with her mom/sister (not sure which)…insane.

i really need a shower but going to bed. i’m deaf again, right after i recovered. but i don’t think it’s as bad this time. tomorrow is study day (no exams for entire school) so going out to lunch with proff and research girls, then starting to study for my 2 on friday. yay for me.

A- in adolescence GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

went to lunch with the proff, it was fun. talked a lot, all good. new orleans is gonna rock!

there were 2 new cases of meningitis here at school. one viral one bacterial…not happy. i got the vaccine, but now i gotta worry about the other type, and blah. i hate disease. hahah.

when i took a shower this morning, i had so much stuff in my hair from yesterday i had to rinse and repeat for the first time in my life LOL. and my hair STILL moved when it was all windy and stuff. i commented that i went to a concert last night, and research girls were like who, and so i’m like Static x, and they’re all like never heard of them. lol i’m like yeah you wouldn’t like them. and beth commented on how we have to go to the garden district so i can find my husband lol. good times.

The Tea Party @ Water Street

tea party day 2. i headed out to rit around 1:30, to then head down to waterstreet. as i said before, i wasn’t really up for sitting around bored outside the hall all day to meet the band, and be first in line. eric wasn’t all that keen on it either, but we figured we’d head down there and see what was going on with joe and rick and the backstage pass bit and whatever. so we got there, and joe and rick were helping roadie for the band…well hey, whatever floats your boat. i think the only band i’d roadie for would be nin but anyway. so mary stayed with them and me and eric left to get food. stopped at record archive too, then back to waterstreet. well everyone was inside…doing whatever they were doing. and me and eric weren’t allowed in. so we’re like ok, leaving again. so hit some more cd places and thrift store, then went back to waterstreet. by then it was about 6 or so. karl and kellee and karl’s friend dave showed up, so talked to them. talked to kelley for a long time about graduating and finding jobs and stuff. i think that’s the most i’ve ever talked to her lol. doors were at 7ish, so waited, blah, got inside etc. i forgot how much i liked waterstreet for shows. because you’re really close, and their barrier has carpeting on it LOL. so it’s “comfy”. i made sure i had alot of room so later when ppl started smooshing up i’d still sorta be not totally crushed. anyway. velour..oh i’m sorry, the turnstones…played again. yay for us. we are so lucky :P. they were crap again. and this time we were at the barrier right in front of the non-talented guitarist…his amp was WAY too friggen loud, so i was deaf after 30 seconds. so all of us (9 of us i think) were so completely uninterested in velour that i think the guitarist guy was kinda irritated. lol it was like he realized we wouldn’t look at him so he’d come play closer to the front of the stage, and we’d all continue to look down or somewhere else LOL. we’re so rude. anyway. i got a velour guitar pick…i can see you are all green with envy. yeah i think he whipped it at me LOL it hit my arm and was like OW!! lol. but whatever.

so tea party played…of course, it was good. not too much to say about it. it was more or less same setlist as last night. OH except yeah, guess who was there…STP kid….oh and he had a sign, again, like at stp. and the tea actually played the song…he must have felt special. he didn’t talk to any of us tho, so that was good. lol. so the crowd was so great. no one even touched me. no crush, no annoying jumping or anything. it was so super. and yeah since we were at the barrier, jeff martin was right in front of me the entire time and i could actually see. so it was rad.

everything finishes and we hang around inside, and then head out. well manslut was there, and a bunch of his friends were there. joe had gotten 2 of tea’s set lists, and the kids were all pissed at him and were going to jump him for the setlists…..?!?!?!?!…..ok so we’re all leaving, and suddenly eric like takes off pushing people out of the way to get down the stairs. so i was like um???? wtf, is he in that much of a hurry to get outside?! well one of the kids then is all like, what the fuck…starting shit. and eric is like yeah, whatever, fuck off. the kid faked to punch him and eric is walking away. then a girl that was with all these kids starts talking shit to mary. so i’m just really trying to stay out of the way LOL. so eric comes back of course, to get mary, and he calls the girl a skank. LOL super. so then she’s all trying to start a fight with both of them. and eric is all like, fuck off, fuck off. and then rick just sorta stands between eric and mary, and the girl, all intimidating and things kinda settled. then manslut came out, and joe is all like “youre friends are fucking assholes, trying to beat me up to get a setlist” (which is when i figured out what the hell started everything). so the kids come back over and is talking to eric, rick and joe and is threatening to kill one of them (still i guess for the setlist)…and don’t put it past him to kill one of them. oh and he said some shit about racism and beating them like niggers or something. then he started saying shit about how he had AIDS, so they better be scared. at some point he broke a bottle and had it in his pants, ready to use on us i guess. ok now this kid was shorter than me, and skinny… so rick could have easily beat this kid to a pulp. but he was all ready to kill the guys with his broken off bottle…and give them AIDS LOL…..anyway. it was kinda amusing, but also quite frightening. there was a security guard who came and stood between all of us, and kinda settled things. made the ppl starting shit with us leave. and manslut said it was all bullshit, and he told the kid he’d beat the shit out of him if he tried anything with us.

so headed to denny’s after waiting around more for the band. ate, etc. yeah. came home. i am so deaf.

the tea shows were great. the band was great, the crowd was great, making the whole experience great. but…there’s a fun-ness factor that isn’t there with that band. there are some bands you go to the show, and it makes you hyper and you have fun. and there are bands who are great, but who don’t give that feeling to you. and i’m not totally sure what it is about the tea party that makes them lack in the fun-ness factor…but part might be what mary talked about on her blog – the lack of crowd interaction. jeff martin NEVER looks at anyone. he never makes eye contact with anyone in the front rows…nothing. and while i could care less if i got that, i know mary wanted it so bad, and i’m sure others as well. i think another part of it is the music. tea have great music, but it’s very “heavy”… not heavy in the slipknot kind of sense, but more in a….thought provoking – makes you think – emotional – mysterious…kind of way. they don’t play “fun” music. they don’t play the kind of music you’d blast on your stereo while getting ready to go out for the night. that’s not a fault, it just gives the show a different kind of atmosphere. i’m kind of biased, but i think nin is the same way. i know *I* would have an excellent fun time at a nin show, but for someone who isn’t that into nin, but is present (like me with tea party), it’s a great show, but would probably lack the fun-ness factor due to the type of music they play. but then… (trying to think of bands with the fun-ness factor)…take econoline. they’re music may be equally emotional, but the kind of music it is is alot more fun…light hearted with a deeper meaning…and it makes you hyper and you dance around and have fun. and the energy level on stage is incredible and you get swept up in it, and you have fun. i dunno.. it’s just different. neither is better, just depends on the band….tea party…APC…tool…super great bands that lack the fun-ness factor….econoline…u2….nin (for me)…stp….super great bands that have the fun-ness factor.

Tea Party @ Shea’s

it’s late, i’m tired, but i wanted to write up tonight before i forget everything.

i should have known that my night was gonna be good as soon as i left my house. lol i had to go pay my credit card (eeeeek 454$!!!!!, without the plane tickets to NO.. and i have NO money left) so i left to get danielle early. had time to kill so i went to record theatre, who was there? Ian. i haven’t seen him in over a year. so we talked, he moved back home cuz he broke up with Samantha. it was good to see him. but i was thinking, dude, why can’t i ever run into Tim. i know he’s around yet i never see him ever. blah.

so headed downtown to shea’s for the concert. got in, and danielle and i were standing on a landing of the staircase (it’s a theatre, so it’s all fancy inside and has staircases lol) to avoid the huge crowd below waiting for doors to open. so we’re standing there, and who is walking up the stairs? Tim. I AM NOT KIDDING. i’m staring at him, and i’m like that looks like Tim. That IS tim. so i’m like omg danielle that kid right there is Tim (cuz she never really saw him before). he looked at me as he was walking up the stairs, but there was like no glimmer of recognition at all (well the last time i saw him i had below shoulder length hair, so i don’t blame him), so i was to afraid to go talk to him. he was with his little asian girlfriend, so didn’t wanna go talk to him for that reason either. but he was standing with people at the top of the staircase, so i was just staring at him in hopes he’d look over and recognize me. then he disappeared. but anyway…my heart was beating so fast. it was so nice just to see him, since i’ve been saying that’s all i wanted to do for so long now, just see him. i wish i could have talked to him but i didn’t want to risk him not knowing who i was. i’d rather just assume he didn’t recognize me cuz i’ve changed my hair so drastically…he is still perfect. it kinda makes me sad on one hand, that i’ll never meet someone like him again, but…when i saw him i was excited that it was him, but there was no real feeling there anymore. not sure if that’s good or not. if i had the chance to talk to him or hang out with him i’m sure it would all come back. i know for a fact it would. i am totally serious when i say that i could be married for 25 years, with kids, and if he walked back into my life i couldn’t guarantee i wouldn’t drop everything for him. i was so excited i wanted to call carolyn and be like O M G I SAW TIM! lol but i didn’t.

anyway…so we found our seats once doors opened and sat through crappy Velour who have a new name, the turnstones…and then a 2nd opener band that at least had more talent than Velour, but weren’t my thing. i forget their name. anyway. between sets they were playing U2 best of, so i was all excited lol. then before tea party they played walk on, tool’s “sober” and then “closer”…doesn’t get much better lol. so tea party came on. we had heard from aaron who had met the band earlier with joe and them, that jeff martin was sick. so we didn’t know what kind of set to expect. well it was really great. this show totally redeemed them for me, since this was the make or break show for me. i had space, people weren’t annoying, it was so great crowd wise (the band, even in my bad experiences, are always great)…they seemed to be having such a great time onstage, they were loving how the crowd was reacting. so it was really super. so they always (that i’ve seen them) close with “sister awake” and they insert “paint it black” into it… so they were doing that, and then they started doing “heroes”… by….david bowie LOL. so i’m like duuuude bowie!!!! haha it rocked. good good show, good good experience. and i saw tim.

hoping tomorrow is good as well, but i’m doubting it. not really in the mood to deal with a waterstreet crowd… the smooshed factor etc. so we’ll see. maybe i’ll hang at the bar, and let everyone else do the up front thing. depends if we get barrier. WHICH WE BETTER since i’m going up with everyone and spending the whole goddamn day there. lol.

Econoline Crush at the Evening Star

well tonight (er last night i guess lol) was the econoline show. i think this was the biggest stretch of time this year between EC shows..it was weird because i had forgotten how happy they make me. so it was really cool seeing them again. didn’t talk to them at all really. saw trevor, said hi, shook hands, but that was it. the show was at a really crappy bar in a crappy hotel on the blvd. got there around 6… joe had just gotten back from taking trevor to the mall LOL…yeah. he took Trevor to the mall. then we went inside and sat at the bar for 2 hrs. doors were at 8, we ended up on the guest list even tho dan wasn’t there…trevor got 5 of us in. THANKS TREVOR! anyway…there were 2 opening bands… Lucid and um..i forget the other bands name… Mudmen…anyway. it was Lucid’s first show ever…but they seemed way too professional to have never played together live before..whatever. the Mudmen were…interesting. they had 2 huge ogre fat men playing bag pipes…then their sound was kinda punkish, kinda hard…i can only say interesting. since the show was at this bar, the stage was only 2 feet off the ground, no barrier. so we were standing there against the stage. it was like, if i had gotten pushed i would have been on stage. it was really weird to be THAT close…cuz i was really selfconscious about what i was doing, and it was hard to do any of the whole arm waving, clapping, etc kind of thing without hitting the singer LOL…ANYWAY…the mudmen singer, he was kinda cute…and like twice he was singing at me. no lie, this isn’t one of those “omg he looked at me” kind of things. this is like, 2 times, he kinda stooped down and stared right at me and sang…it was strange, cuz like i didn’t know what to do. it wasn’t like i knew the band, and could sing along and have a “moment” with the singer…so i kinda just laffed at him LOL. the 2nd time i saw adrienne lean over and look at me while the singer dude was singing at me. but yeah, they were interesting.

EC was great as always. FINALLY PLAYED A FULL SET! lol…16 songs i think. yeah…no razorblades ย but it was good… played home, and riverside, and all the songs i would have wanted to hear besides razorblades and the songs that i know they’d never in a million years play (stuff off affliction)…yeah trevor’s crotch was right at face level the entire time…not complaining LOL but kinda awkward sometimes. it was weird being so close. johnny and mark had sparkles all over them, it was cute lol…anyway, good show as always. happy happy

U2 in Hamilton

u2 – hamilton, ontario – october 13, 2001

best show i’ve ever seen

I got up at 7:30 to get ready to leave for Hamitlon. Wanted to leave at 8:30, cuz i needed to get there by 10:30 to pick up my ticket from the person i bought it from. Yahoo directions said it would take me close to 2 hours to get to Copps from NT, plus the border hassel due to all the crap going on, i left around 8:15….what time did I get to Hamilton? 9:30….haha. it took me an hour. border was no problem, i stopped and exchanged money, all that…the way home my trunk got searched at the border, had to show ID…good to know they’re protecting us!! ๐Ÿ˜›

so i got in line, and got a number (314) and then later got my ticket. I didn’t get lost, it was all good. Ended up talking to these 2 girls and a guy in line, played cards with them etc. I let the girls store their crap in my car since they had taken the bus and had no where to put it.

So after about 8 hours we got let into Copps. Well before that we had gotten wrist bands that guaranteed a floor spot…dunno what the difference is if you have a GA ticket but whatever. I got a cool wrist band! So…we got frisked, etc, got into Copps. It’s really small in there, probably the size of the Rochester arena…the first 350 people got let into the heart, which although my number was 314…yeah didn’t get in the heart. NOT A PROBLEM!!! I ended up barrier on outside of the heart, on edge’s side….probably halfway from stage to tip of the heart. could see perfectly (when the security guard wasn’t in my way)
sooo…garbage played, yeah. (i totally forgot they had played until i was about 10 minutes from my house on the way home lol). they were good….1323534635 times better than PJ Harvey. They played their hits…only happy when it rains, stupid girl, #1crush… i was happy they played that, cuz i totally forgot it was their song and i really like it. yeah shirley manson is perfect looking.
so after that, waited around more, painful lol but whatever. u2 came on around quarter to 9. opened with “elevation” and “beautiful day” like in buffalo (they had done something different earlier in the week, so no one knew what to expect for our show). they changed the set list up ALOT, which is good, cuz it means i didn’t see the exact same show. While I prefer the buffalo setlist, this show was by far better. there was so much extra “special” stuff that made it way better.
1. bono hugged an american flag for a good 2 minutes. a girl at the outside tip of the heart had an american flag. i forget which song was ending when bono took the flag and hugged it for a very long time. he hid his face in the flag as he hugged it, and stood there. (someone said he was crying, and was wiping his tears with it) millions of pictures were taken obviously, need to find some. it was really special. kinda sad that it takes 4 irish men to spark a bit of patriotism in me… there were also other people with american flags, a sign that had a flag on it and said “thank you for caring” on it…..i dunno. the whole fact that i was an american in canada, and ppl being so supportive..it was really touching.
2. bono brought up some kid who had made a sign that said he wanted to play guitar with the band. they brought the kid an acoustic guitar and bono and the edge stayed at the tip of the heart with the kid as he played. however, the kid had no idea what he was doing! he sucked badly cuz he was so nervous, he was shaking, so bono was telling him what chords to play, where his fingers should be, the rhythm etc as edge played it and the rest of the band played….then bono and edge left the tip back to the stage and the kid followed them, and then bono gave him the microphone, and took the guitar and the kid sang the song as bono played. it was so great!
3. they played “out of control”…and while i don’t see how great of a thing this is, i guess it’s rare for them to play it, since it was their first single ever….so that was cool
4. yeah ok, i admit, i cried…I SAID I WOULD! but not for the reason i said i would… almost cried during “kite”….was too dehydrated to form tears LOL. bono was talking about how he originially wrote the song for his children, but now he thinks his dad wrote it for him…sad…but i did cry during the last encore…they played “one”, and the screens behind them read off the names of all the people who died in the 4 hijacked planes a month ago…which went into “peace on earth” and “walk on”…yeah…cried…it was bad. but i wasn’t alone so hehe
5. bono shined the spot light right in my face during “bullet the blue sky”….like, he was standing right in front of me, light in my face, could not see…not like just the edge of the spotlight kinda shining on my face, no like THE DIRECT BEAM! lol….oh and while singing “jacob wrestled the angel and the angel was overcome” he was all hugging himself, and i was like omg you are so beautiful.

6. acoustic version of “staring at the sun” by bono and edge… so great.

i was SO happy they played “bullet the blue sky” and “new york” because i was unsure they were going to…esp bullet, cuz they didn’t the other night…i am obsessed with that song as of late, so i was really happy i could see it from the front of the stage and not the back. they changed the intro to the song, took out the singing, and the NRA/Heston part…just went right into the song…it’s so haunting…the spotlight bit is a nice touch…during “new york”, bono comes on to the heart, stops right in front of where i was, where he sings in front of a screen thing. well they changed the words to the song, and the security guy came and put them on the stage in front of where bono would be since he doesn’t know them…so it was kinda rad to see bono reading the words from the sheet….bono kissed edge during “until the end of the world” haha it was so cute

didn’t play “mysterious ways” or “the fly”….the fly, not so much a shock as mysterious ways…i figured that was a staple of the show…but that’s ok. whatever.

i totally just remembered (10-22-01) out of no where, that bono was doing this ultra cute thing, making his hands into a heart shape and holding them in front of his chest…for an example, click here for a photo – don’t think from hamilton…. it was TOO cute…love bono…

ok thats all i can remember right now…

the 2 girls are supposed to send me the pictures they took…will post them if/whenever i get them. not looking like i am getting them.
