rock band is finally being release for the wii…but you can’t download extra songs…which seems sorta retarded, given the wii is on the internet anyway. and since i’m sure it’ll be expensive, i wonder if it’ll include an expansion pack of some sort to compensate for the un-download-ability. i want to try to make my arms fall off playing the perfect drug on rock band drums damnit! mario kart for wii is coming too πŸ™‚ i still need a “classic” or game cube controller if anyone has some they want to donate to me.

i’m off of work today, again, and have nothing to do, again. i got an IM from leah last night that they are in town so i’m hoping she pops back online as she said and i can meet her someplace. it’s 80 out and i should do something outside but i have no ideas. i don’t lay out in the sun, i have no porch furniture to just sit there and read, and while i want to explore i don’t go alone and i’m also completely bored with locations in buffalo. i don’t know of anything “new” and i don’t want to go to the same places for the 100th time. i also don’t have a hose so i can’t wash my car as i wanted to.

Bye Spiral :(

trent is shutting down the spiral fan club and incorporating alot of what was offered with membership in nin.com for free. that’s all fine and good…sorta. he said there will still be presales, but for anyone who signs up at nin.com. which could mean 10837 scalpers buying up all the tickets. not good. plus it seems there will no longer be early entry and a separate line. which sucks BIG TIME. i adored the early entry privilege. presales and early entry are the sole reason i was a spiral member. god knows i had no use for the message board, and i could care less if i got a “free gift” every year.

cassie suggested the reason for eliminating the spiral could have been that it was at least partially paid for by interscope and now trent “can’t afford it”…which is possible. clearly the web component is what costs money (but the arguably, moving those features to a free nin.com means he’s still paying for it), and i’d gladly continue to pay a yearly membership fee for a “fan club” without the web component, as long as it offered the presales – to members ONLY. i’d even give up the early entry, for restricted presales. i know i would never have gotten to see 38 shows without the spiral presales, as i’d never have gotten tickets to shows that all went on sale the same day – and with the fall 05 leg, almost all the shows we went to went on sale at the same time.

i know other bands – smaller bands – like stone sour have internet presales for their free “fan clubs”, i’ve taken advantage of them…but they clearly don’t have as much draw for scalpers as a band of nin’s size. and the stone sour presales were run by the same company as the spiral, music today, which makes me wonder if they’ll continue to do the nin presales on nin.com…and i’m sure music today doesn’t do this for free…

this has the makings for a u2.com ticket sale debacle. only now trent doesn’t have the resources (ie interscope) to back him up and fix it like u2 did. we shall see. hope it all goes well cuz i have 7 more shows to buy πŸ™‚

*edit* as found on the spiral, someone asked Rob
I don’t know all the details of the presale process yet – they are
still working on that – but the goal remains the same as always: To
keep the good tickets available to fans, and out of the hands of
brokers. The process will be very similar to how it was on The
Spiral, where tickets have your name printed on them, and matching ID
will be required when you pick up your tickets and enter the venue.
I’m sure a lot more info will be coming soon, but we’re doing
everything in our power to keep the best seats in the hands of the fans.

books

to my tech savy friends…do you need your own server to run a torrent tracker? anyone got one I can have πŸ™‚ or want to go into partnership with me? Β none of it is making sense to me at all but it’s something i really want to do.

i’m sick. i fell asleep watching the ottawa/pittsburgh game (Go pens!) and missed the dreaming show yesterday. mike was supposed to come over tonight, and canceled, good thing. oddly i want to eat everything, craving weird things, but can’t taste them when i eat. like jalapeΓ±o poppers…haha.

my recent adventures in reading has been the Chronicals of Narnia. I was enjoying them until the last book. You can see the Christian parallels and illusions throughout the entire series, but the last one takes the cake. And it bugs me. Why can’t you just have a pure fantasy series for children? Why add all these religious overtones to it? When the last book started I didn’t even want to read it…because yes Narnia is awesome and you don’t want to read about it ending…you don’t want the Ape and Donkey to make a false Aslan cuz of course the shit will hit the fan…but then it gets ok until the end. And I’m talking the very last page…Aslan telling them, well there was a rail accident and you’re all dead now!! wtf must it be so blunt?! blahblahblah he is god, narnia is heaven…. i just want a good story. maybe i should read harry potter. but for now i’m going to read donnie brasco πŸ™‚

that is until the nyquil makes me pass out…and it’s coming on quickly.

music

ashes divide – billy howerdel’s new project – released their cd today called “keep telling myself it’s alright”. since billy was the creative force behind a perfect circle, this sounds very much like APC. just with billy singing, not maynard. i’ve gotten through it once, and i enjoyed it. i even bought it!! i vowed not to buy another cd without listening to it online first, after just assuming maynard’s puscifer would actually be good and having it be horrible. it also helped that ashes divide was only $8 at target. if all cds were $8 i’d probably buy alot more of them.

i’ve also had the dreaming’s cd “etched in blood” sitting on the desk for what…a month now? more? and i haven’t listened to it yet. going to see them tonight tho!! haha. maybe i should dig up the pics of me and johnny haro (drummer) back in the econoline days and give them to him hah.

and alien ant farm is releasing a greatest hits cd…um…is that really necessary? didn’t they have like 3 songs? hahaha

i was out and about today trying out a new photo technique, and i found myself driving around love canal (oh sorry…they call it Black Creek now, because that’s a much better name to use for an area filled with toxic waste), and lasalle, down to the falls. turns out some punk(s) have been shooting cars with pellet guns around lasalle for the last week and have moved on to shooting moving cars on the lasalle expressway…which is where i was and how i go to work. of course i didn’t know this at the time, mom called after dinner freaked out that i was going to get shot at on my way to work hahah. obviously…i’m here, and i did not get shot at. i’d much rather have not been told about it tho because now when i drove by the 2 pedestrian overpasses, i got paranoid that i WAS going to get shot at. it was much better not knowing that i might have been shot at the entire last week. let’s hope it gets resolved during my 2 days off.

monday is saul williams in toronto, i keep forgetting.

Stephen Colbert!!

Went to see Stephen Colbert tonight with Jerry and his wife (who i finally met after knowing Jerry for 4 years ha). It was fantastic. I think he was more himself, than the Colbert Report character most of the time, and he was very funny. He poked a few jokes at UB about their sucky football team (and later in Q&A someone pointed out that this year they share the mac east somethingorother championship and he had to apologize ha), and about Buffalo weather – the usual. He did a bit on Eliot Spitzer and how Spitzer was on his show 10 minutes before calling his prostitute that got him in trouble. He closed out with “the word” before a q&a that was amusing as well. He was on stage an hour and a half, and it was well worth the ticket price.

It’s common knowledge among BCT people that 10 years ago UB recast the concourse buffalo using the original molds to create a campus mascot, and the mascot sits outside the Arts building. Well…they don’t have 1 buffalo, they have 2…and it was on stage behind Colbert (and he tried to grab it’s balls, only it didn’t have any haha). The 2nd one appears to be somewhat mobile, which leads to the possibilty of new molds being cast from it, since the original molds have since been lost (again). Or, I think they should just donate it to us πŸ™‚ I want a buffalo damnit.

nin news: Band Members: Trent Reznor, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Freese, Robin Finck, Rich Fownes

welcome back robin πŸ™‚

stay

it took me a long time to fully appreciate this song. i’d very much like to see it back in the setlist

Green light, Seven Eleven
You stop in for a pack of cigarettes
You don’t smoke, don’t even want to
Hey now, check your change
Dressed up like a car crash
Your wheels are turning but you’re upside down
You say when he hits you, you don’t mind
Because when he hurts you, you feel alive
Hey babe, is that what it is

Red lights, gray morning
You stumble out of a hole in the ground
A vampire or a victim
It depend’s on who’s around
You used to stay in to watch the adverts
You could lip sync to the talk shows

And if you look, you look through me
And when you talk, you talk at me
And when I touch you, you don’t feel a thing

If I could stay…
Then the night would give you up
Stay… and the day would keep its trust
Stay… and the night would be enough

Faraway, so close
Up with the static and the radio
With satellite television
You can go anywhere
Miami, New Orleans
London, Belfast and Berlin

And if you listen I can’t call
And if you jump, you just might fall
And if you shout, I’ll only hear you

If I could stay…
Then the night would give you up
Stay… then the day would keep its trust
Stay… with the demons you drowned
Stay… with the spirit I found
Stay… and the night would be enough

Three o’clock in the morning
It’s quiet and there’s no one around
Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel runs to ground

Just the bang
And the clatter
As an angel
Hits the ground

now i wait to see what the ninhotline’s april fools prank will be this year…

hockey

final sabres home game of the season tonight. WIN. overtime…overall it was pretty boring and a bit depressing. we should be preparing for the playoffs and not for the golf course…wins are good though. and for the first time our section won free bigmacs (woo…:P). i took a bunch of pics during warm up for phill. most blurry, don’t realize how fast they move until you’re right next to them. there were a few that turned out nicely though. the dippin dots cart moved next to our section now, talk about convenient. hopefully they leave it there next season haha.
