happy thanksgiving

my early thanksgiving memories all involve elementary school, with the teachers and room mothers making a thanksgiving feast for the whole class. we always learned about columbus, and then the pilgrims on the mayflower. we always made construction paper turkeys by tracing our hands and cutting out different color “fingers” to make the turkey feathers. and in the early years, for the feast we’d always dress up in costumes made out of paper bags, more construction paper, and of course lots of paste. to be fair, i guess, all the kids had to draw pieces of paper out of a hat that either read “pilgrim” or “indian” to determine what kind of costume each kid made. i always wanted to be an indian because they made fun paper bag vests and construction paper headbands with feathers. but i always always always was a boring old pilgrim. with a stupid white construction paper apron and stupid black construction paper hat. i hated being a pilgrim.

still waiting for eric’s obligatory turkey cartoon post…

in other news. phill and i had sold our hockey tickets for yesterday’s game vs toronto a week ago. i got a call today from the kid i sold them to, and apparently when he tried to go to the game they scanned as “invalid”. wtf. they took him to the accounts office and treated him like crap, and told him the tickets had already been sold on the sabres “replay” system which allows season ticket holders to resell the tickets they can’t use. basically they said there were already 2 people in the seats, and that his tickets were invalid. of course i’m sure this kid thought we screwed him. i talked to him on the phone and he told me the story and i’m just like wtf, because we’ve never used, and haven’t even signed up for, the my replay system on sabres.com. then it dawned on me, someone must have pulled the scanned tickets image off our ebay auction and printed themselves a pair of tickets. and in that case, what the hell is wrong with the arena ticket people that they couldn’t tell the difference between badly scanned and printed fake tickets and the real ones. i guess the bar code would still scan, but COME ON! i have to meet the kid to give him his money back, so we lose out on that $150 plus the actual cost of the tickets since we weren’t able to actually use them. we’re going to go down to the arena and be like wtf give us a refund. but if the mistake is on their end, and they have our account marked as invalid for some reason, we need to fix it since we’ve sold almost every other game too. we’ll find out tomorrow if the kid who bought the montreal game tickets gets denied. gah. i’ll be so pissed.

the day has come…econoline crush planning a 2007 tour. EC makes me happy.

and i find it so amusing that marilyn manson has become stadium music. they always play “beautiful people” at the hockey games. (go sabres!)

ok i saw the “30 days” episode where a guy went to India to get back his outsourced job, and i saw how badly they need jobs over there. but i CANNOT stand having to call customer service and getting people in India when i can’t understand a word they are saying. that is NOT helpful! arg. this paypal shit. where can i fax stuff other than officemax? i doubt they’ll be open tomorrow…

now it may seem shocking, but this is not new information. people intimidate me. mostly i’d say girls intimidate me. i don’t know what to talk about to most of them, unless they are older than me. i just don’t relate. but i can usually function and make some stupid jokes and get by. but there is this girl at work, who for some reason, intimidates me to no end. she looks like michelle branch. that’s not important but…haha. anyway. she’s younger than me, and perfectly nice, shes left me comments on my myspace and i try to talk to her like normal at work, but i just freeze. and i think i intimidate her too. anyway…she asked me to take photos of her because she wants to apply to suicide girls. and from what i have seen of suicide girls, there’s lots of nudity. i don’t know if that’s what is needed to apply but. wow. haha. i totally don’t know what to do.

has anyone with a paypal account ever had their account access limited? because mine is at the moment. and this is not a spoof email trying to get my personal information. it’s some safety thing that paypal does and for whatever reason, recent activity made a red flag go up and they’ve limited my account. i can’t send or recieve money and i can’t withdraw any. and in order to get my account back to normal i have to fax them my drivers license, latest bank statement and latest credit card statement. what the hell? i don’t really feel comfortable sending them all that information. even tho this is not a spoof, it just doesn’t feel safe and i have no idea why they would need all that information. i’ve contacted customer service twice asking what exactly happened to my account and asking why i need to send the info, but all i get is a form letter reply. wtf.

i wasn’t able to get friday off to go to the drag king show with adr2 bliss and amira. so we went to dinner last night, cuz adr2 and bliss finally found a restaurant that they can eat it. and we had a lovely good time there. so even tho i have like 5 friends it made me very glad for the ones i have.

then today i was supposed to go exploring but i’m a jerk and slept til 330 so there was no point in trying to track down where kathryn and dusty were. oh well i hope they had a good time.

david drove in from indiana today (cuz he’s crazy haha) to go to transfig. lovely little place it is. hasn’t changed much in the 3 years since my first visit. the weather was sorta crap, rainy. clearned up near the end of our 2 hours inside and the setting sun came out a few times. i took close to 200 photos and if i have more than 25 different shots i’ll be surprised haha. still trying to get the hang of the camera, more specifically how truthful the LCD is. i took quite a few overexposed frames to compensate for the difference between the LCD view and how things have ended up looking in photoshop (darker). here’s hoping i got some decent images. i can already tell, just from what i remember of my first photos of the place, these should be much better. haha

oddly, there were no birds inside. and i say oddly, because the place is filled, everywhere, with pigeon crap. i’ve quite a headache now, just like the first trip – but not as bad. i think the wetness helped keep the poo dust down. it was very weird not to have birds flying around our heads though.

and i’ve suddenly developed a fear of high steep staircases. i tried to go up into the rafters and belfry, and i just couldn’t. i think it’s because i carry too much gear now, i don’t feel safe, and wouldn’t be able to catch myself should i fall or a step give way… i dunno but i need to get over it.

the next presidential election should be done as a reality show. seriously. you’d get more participation that way. throw all the candidates into a house…mccain, hillary, all the rest… for let’s say 4 months before election day. maybe we start with 10-15 candidates and after a few weeks of living together, america starts voting them off by phone. throw in some challenges – dancing, singing, comedy, sports, figure skating – fly them to an exotic location for a few weeks. by november you’ll be down to 2 candidates, and america will vote for the last time, and elect a president. hell the whole world could contribute and pick our new president. i think it’s a brilliant idea.

hahah from atu2.com so funny

“U2’s latest album will be launched amidst the usual fanfare at midnight tomorrow, but fans hoping for fresh sounds or a hint of experimentation would be best advised to stay under the duvet.

There is a grand total of one new song from Bono and the boys, there’s one re-hash of a punk oldie with Green Day and 15 apparently shameless re-hashes of their own oldies, and not-so-oldies such as ‘Vertigo’ from the band’s previous album.

And the bonus track? It is only ‘I Will Follow’, which you might have bought on the Boy album. Or perhaps on their first Best Of collection a few years back. Or maybe you’re not actually a U2 fan.”

The new track is called ‘Window In the Skies’, while U2 cover ‘The Skids,’ and also ‘The Saints are Coming’ track with American rockers Green Day. You get a DVD featuring “single promo videos” too, which sounds as bad as it is.

now when they say rehash…are they shit remixes like the best of 90s disc? or complete just regular songs repackaged… kate? you know? not really gonna buy it anyway, that new song…um…no thanks. but if they were like acoustic redone versions that would at least be interesting, and not just a 3rd best of.

in other news. i was just at target. and people have tents set up outside in front, waiting for playstation 3. and the manager was outside telling them they’re only getting 8 of them in on FRIDAY….now i’ve sat in alot of lines but none of them involved a tent, or 2 days out in the cold for a friggen video game!

dear god i am so sick of urban explorers and uer and the database.

the wheel almost fell off my car. my dad put my snow tires on last saturday and they sounded funny, but i ignored it because they sound funny to begin with – just louder than the regular tires. but then it kept getting worse – a sound like something was rubbing/hitting something else as the tire spun. it was super loud when i went to the grocery store today so i detoured to home to tell my dad. he test drove it, and looked, and he forgot to tighten the lug nuts all the way on one wheel. super. that would have been great to have the wheel come off.

must remember to buy rubber gloves for transfig. and bandaids.

what else what else…

my new green contacts finally arrived, and along with them, they sent me chocolate haha. anyway. they are very green. i think they make me look demented. more than the blue ones did. but i like em. they’re so obviously fake it’s amusing.

hair cut tomorrow, i need new jeans cuz my pirate jeans have a hole in the ass. i guess they officially become urbex pants now. it’ll be ok to get them covered in bird crap at transfig thurs. hair dying tomorrow night as well.

i finished reading A Clockwork Orange. it got much easier to read with all the strange words when you just ignore them. and eventually you read them so many times that you sorta know what it’s supposed to say. all in all the movie followed the book pretty well. but wow that end chapter, that was in the UK versions and left out of the US ones for a long time…it actually almost ruins it. just…not expected, doesn’t fit, and almost seems like a cop out. on the other hand, it does make a statement that everything is just a phase…i am now reading Rat Scabies and the Holy Grail. i don’t know how i found it, i think the title just sounded interesting when searching someone’s bookmooch list. rat scabies is a drummer of one of the first london punk bands, and the story is about him and his neighbor trying to find the holy grail. i’ve only read one chapter and it’s already quite amusing and fun. i mooched all these “classics” off of bookmooch, books that have been banned, famous books that as an educated and intelligent person, i feel like i should read…but i really have no interest in doing so. these fun little novels are much more appealing than what i expect “classics” to be. i think it’s because of how much english classes in school ruin good books, i fear reading things that are taught in school. scarlet letter – great book. really liked it, but then i think about how much my 11th grade english teacher made us read in to it and find hidden meanings and it just wasn’t fun. same with a tale of two cities. i love that book now. but i hated it in 10th grade. i’m just scared of the classics cuz in my head classic=boring.

OH…anyone want to go to toronto vs buffalo next wednesday at HSBC? because we can’t get rid of the damn tickets. this was definitely NOT a game we thought we’d have trouble selling the tickets to, but we got no bids on ebay, nothing through craigslist or postaroo, and most people at work have to work next wed – that day being our 2nd busiest day of the year and all. if anyone knows someone interested, section 321 row 10 seats 21 and 22 – $150.

oh yeah. i ran into the guy who was playing keyboards for jeff martin this summer, who always played in my fav crappy band at the casino. so i asked him about it, and he said jeff is off doing his solo acoustic indian music thing, and they may go out on the road again after that. wow. what a downgrade to be on tour with a big artist and then come back to this terrible coverband who plays at the casino. but he’s still cute. haha

kitty isn’t mad at me anymore for taking him to the vet. went to a new place, they all seemed nice, and the dr talked my ear off about the casino. ran into my 6th grade and high school art teacher mr martin there. kinda neat.

lets go buffalo! i found out how to request an appearance at an event by sabretooth. i’m so getting him at the terminal for something.

i had a moment with this kid at work last night. we were waiting to be put somewhere by the grave shift at 4 and were talking about music. he’s a big aerosmith fan, has seem them 40 some times i guess. and a girl came up to me to ask me about this nin song she heard on 103.3 that was trent singing ghostbusters…and i was like um..no? LOL anyway…got to talking about cover songs and how everyone and his brother has covered “come together” and “helter skelter”, and then how we can respect the beatles but don’t like them. and i said something about how i found them boring, and “i want to hold your hand”…no thank you. and just as i was thinking it, this kid says “yeah, i want to hold your hand? no, i want to fuck you like an animal, yes” LOL
