i read the sequel to Wicked, Son of a Witch, finished a week or so ago. It was slow to start, but got much better, and left tons of things open for another installment of the story. so so much that can be built off of for future novels. if you read Wicked and liked it, i recommend it, but you need not have read Wicked to understand whats going on, it just might not seem as good.

i followed that up with Dangerous Minds. i had watched the movie on tv while sewing, and tho the movie is crap i still liked it and i still wanted to cry at the end. and “gangstas paradise” is still a really great rap song. even though i’m not a teacher the book is ridiculously inspiring. it really makes you want to go out and change the world and reach your students and save them from whatever their disadvantage might be. of course, the book has 20 chapters or so, and i’m sure in 4 years of teaching in that program she had many many more failures or times when she didn’t reach a certain kid. but anyway. that’s the pessimist in me.

i’m currently reading U2 Popaganda, a collection of U2 quotes. it makes me love them again. i keep a journal next to my bed, it is not a diary, but a place where i write down quotes i like from books i’m reading, and the occasional drawing of something i want to paint but never will hahah. it’s tough to read popaganda because every other page i’m writing something down in the journal. once i’m finished there will be a nice long amusing post of u2 quotes. i also finally got u2 by u2, but it’s a gigantic hardcover book and it will be tough to read in bed ha.

that reminds me, popmart was released on dvd. target didn’t have the special edition so i’ll have to venture out tomorrow and get it from best buy. i still somehow managed to spend $35 at target 😛

and cake mania 2 was released, so that’s what i’ll be wasting my time with for the next few days ha *dork*

i also want to go to see lewis black at shea’s if anyone is interested. oct 25th or something. $30. and i feel like i should go see gwar, coming in november to town ballroom, just to see the spectacle. to copy eric. ha. they are coming with HORSE the band, and i’m not sure i could manage seeing them again haha

Heaven and Hell

tonight was the heaven and hell show with queensryche and alice cooper. this was a show i went to just to go, mainly for alice cooper, cuz he’s a legend. it was at darien lake, which was weird to be at considering the amusement park is closed during the week now.

anyway. queensryche. i really had no clue what they sounded like, and did not expect to know anything. but it turns out i did know one song – jet city woman – but then i realized i knew it from some cd compilation tv commercial and thought that was kind of sad ha.

alice cooper was flippin fantastic. seriously. i figured out that i knew 2 alice songs – school’s out and feed my frankenstein but only from wayne’s world – but then it turns out i knew 4! hah i also knew no more mister nice guy (which i didn’t know was alice) and poison (or is it venomous poison?). but what a show. he truly is the father of that whole “shock rock” elaborate stage show genre. most impressive was a song about dead babies, and him simulating taking a hammer to a baby in a carriage and coming out with a bloody baby doll HA! and also the gallows, which followed the dead baby song, where they hung alice in a straight jacket haha. there was also this ballet dancer that got slapped around, which turns out is alice’s daughter, and an alice dummy that he stabs in the beginning of the show. he was on longer than i expected, about an hr 15, and included an encore.

heaven and hell/black sabbath with ronnie james dio. did not know any of the songs, as expected. they didn’t play the 2 sabbath songs that i do know (paranoid/iron man). but i’ll take great guitar rock any day. my only complaint, is that every song was like 15 min long (literally, adr2 said that heaven and hell is a 4 min song and it was really 15 min long live). i’d space out in the middle of songs, then come to again and realize they were still playing the same song. so it feels like they only played 5 songs, tho they played an hour and a half at least.

the crowd was amusing of course, it was a metal show what do you expect? my favourite was the guy near us towards the end that was channeling james hetfield circa “and justice for all”, with the wife with the matching hair. we figured they must have gotten a 2 for 1 perm deal. ha i still don’t think anyone will beat the 60 year old skinny white dude and short fat hispanic lady dancing at depeche mode.

it is a real shame arrested development was cancelled. how can people NOT like this show? it’s so freaking absurd it’s fantastic. uncle jack…hahahahah

those needing tickets to the ice bowl…42,000 sold and there are 32,000 still reserved for sabres season holders. and word on the street is they’re gonna release more in a few days. i didn’t realize it at the time, but there was no cap on # of seats you could buy. murph bought 20 LOL. and i guess another secret to the sale was using the penguins/blue jays (why bluejays, not maple leafs?) special sale password – which for the penguins password, was crosby – real original and hard to guess. there were still tickets reserved for penguins/bluejays fans way after the available public tickets sold out. a bunch of people at work got them that way by guessing “crosby” or finding the other password on forums. i think phill sent in to buy more tickets through our seasons, and i’m pretty sure we’ll be selling once we figure all this stuff out.

ice bowl tix

apparently i had the easiest ticket buying experience ever in getting the ice bowl tickets. got 3 in section 312 right away, was back in bed at 10:01. i was pretty shocked at the ease, and figured there must not have been that much interest afterall. but jenn didn’t end up with any tickets, eric got 2 separate ones, etc. looking now, it is sold out (buffalo news says it sold out in an hour, or possibly in minutes), and there are already ticketexchange auctions on ticketmaster.com for seats in the ends of the 300 section (2 seats for 300$)

over the last few weeks i’ve been having loads of dreams about nin shows. last night it was nin was playing at my casino. except no one knew about it. i didn’t find out til tickets were already onsale and i freaked. somehow, i guess since no one knew about it, i was able to get tickets to both shows – cuz yes they are so popular in niagara falls, they were playing 2 shows. then i realized i’d need permission to be onsite and typically we’re not allowed to attend any shows. i decided just to ask for the days off and not tell them i was going to the concerts. then there was all this stuff about trying to get ready for the show with this girl i knew on lj and from an orgy show in 99. and then the show was in an airport and we had to go through airport security to get to the show, and they kept giving me a hard time and blahblahblah it was stressful.

the icebowl tickets for season holders is so confusing. we have tickets reserved for us, but no one knows where they’ll actually be. so they could be total crap in the end zone or something. so we could refuse those tickets, get refunds, and just get our own at the public sale, but then what if we don’t get any? and no one knows about bills season holders, and if the tickets they get will be in their football season seats – which will suck because they obviously will have all the good seats. so in the end we’re keeping our 2 allowed tickets. i’m trying to get 3 at public sale. i can’t remember if phill is trying to get more too. and we’ll use whichever are better, sell the others. there was some other complicated stuff with phills brother and friend that i didn’t understand. all i know is i have to be up in 5 hours to try to get tix. it seems tho that we’re looking at 74k attendance for the game. it’s gonna be so great. i asked for the day off since my vacation time will re-up by then but it’s too soon. i need the damn day off. i’ve never tailgated before, i must!!

we’re also figuring out which games we’re keeping this season, and prices for the rest. so will have a list soon for anyone who wants to buy games off of us.

oh yeah, what the fuck is wrong with OJ Simpson? seriously. you get away with a double murder, and continue to be a jackass and now get arrested for armed robbery. he really lost his mind at some point.

i suck

i totally suck. i was supposed to be at the terminal at 2 right. couldn’t remember who or why. well i didn’t wake up til quarter after 3. go me!! arg. i suck.

work was whatever. heaven and hell tour wednesday at darien lake. dr appt thurs unless i can get it changed so i can make it to the board meeting. otherwise i can’t remember anything else i’m supposed to be doing. i’m sure there’s something tho, and i’m sure i’ll sleep right through it again 😛

Earlier today I was walking on the waterfront with a friend and noticed Crime Scene Investigation trucks and undercover cars parked behind the Memorial Auditorium.

When we got close enough to see the back of the building, we seen that the “plywood” door that allows access into the building was open and numerous officers and detectives were standing outside.

Feeling stupid, we asked if we could be allowed to just take a peak in the building, as we are hugeeee sabres fans.

They said no this is a crime scene, if it were different circumstances we’d let you look but just not now.

My friend had the guts to ask what kind of investigating they were doing and the cop, still polite, said that a body was found.

So, when you see this on the news tonight or in the paper tomorrow, dont be shocked.

 

 

boyx showed it to me when i called him a liar. i still told him i don’t believe it. he’s like, who would make up a story like that? um lots of people, including ME and most of my friends LOL! he’s like, it seems sort of elaborate to be made up. no it doesn’t! there’s no info in that post at all. and who’s to say the cops weren’t there investigating something else – maybe caught people inside, or people stealing – and to be dicks they said they found a body. I’d do that too!! it’d fucking be on the news by now if it was true.

so fantastic. so many meanings to that pic!

no boat ride today, shit weather, so just lunch. boat ride tomorrow but i have to be at the building for something at 2. and i say “something” because i have no idea why i have to be there. i can’t remember for who or for what reasons just that i have to be there at 2. arg. i want to go on the boat. *whine*

oh and last night at work i dealt 14 hands before 8pm even came around. then did nothing for the next 8 hours. the highlight was when water started pouring out of the ceiling next to pit 7 LOL. it’s the vicinity of the pool, and though it appears it was not the pool leaking, but a pipe, it was still funny. they were putting plastic wrap on the tables that were getting wet, classy. ha!

and the nhl2k8 game commercials, featuring “somebody’s watching me” are great
