honestly, nin fans from the WT era are so spoiled….year zero only 2 years after with teeth, and now ghosts i-iv a year later. 🙂

today is the day…2 weeks after trent posted “two weeks” on his blog…and what do we get so far today…. a post that says “soon”…thank you trent for being so enlightening. tho it is amusing to see the rest of the nin crowd freaking out, pissed off, speculating about what this whole possible announcement is going to end up being.
i’ve found myself with absolutely no motivation once again. don’t want to get out of bed, once i do, don’t want to get ready for the day, don’t want to get ready for work, don’t want to do much of anything.
I love our new guy Steve Bernier. because he is just so freaking excited to be in buffalo. all his interviews so far he’s been giddy. i think that’s a good thing cuz it’ll make him play better than if he was depressed about the trade. and he had a huge game wednesday but still recognized that it was just 1 game, and there are many more to go. so i’ll keep him.
and wth, the nhl.com store is selling special nhl st patricks day merchandise….green apparel with team logos, and hockey playing leprechauns, and such on it. ?!?!?
FINALLY, i got to see u2 3d. leighanne and james and i headed out to see the only showing of the day tonight. i would say it was definitely worth it. even if the visuals had sucked, i just loved having the chance to hear great songs, live and at full volume. i wish more bands would have their concert films shown in theatres, i’d so go to all of them (i’m thinking about going to the rolling stones one when it comes out – cheaper than actually seeing them again ha).
so the movie. the 3d…when we got in it was during the last preview, also in 3d, for…journey to the center of the earth?? and wow. flashlights flying at my head, along with rocks. and i immediately thought – i am going to get such a headache from this…i was not looking forward to it. it took a bit to get used to the 3d. there ends up being so many levels your eyes don’t know what to focus on, and often wouldn’t focus on whatever was “closest” to you. after a few songs it got better and much of the time i forgot i was wearing silly glasses and had no troubles. every now and then something would show up on screen that was hard to focus on again, and movement (especially adam) was sometimes weird, but for the most part it was pretty cool. the performance itself, leighanne and i both thought bono was holding back a lot. given how he usually acts, kissing the camera and stuff, his 3d actions seemed pretty tame. we figure someone must have told him to calm down for the filming. on the other side, i thought edge seemed way more into it than in the past – just really hard strumming on the guitar and massive “Edge stomp”. i noticed a “trent edit” job during “miss sarajevo” where one shot bono was using a mic stand, and the next shot he was holding the mic – and at one point it showed both shots at the same time…hah. oops.
the setlist was short, i think 80 min or so, much shorter than a real show. i’d go again just for “bullet the blue sky” and “the fly” which was just beyond brilliant. “bullet” loud and live is always a good thing, even tho i prefer a “bono rant” ending to “johnny come marching home”. but nevertheless, edge guitar on bullet is killer. “the fly” took full advantage of the 3d, with flying words, letters, sentences etc like the zoo tv version. the song sounded fantastic, and i love bono performing it (yes i even love the hat). i was smiling through the whole song. they ended with “with or without you”….then “yahweh” during credits…but i had to go to the bathroom so bad i left, doesn’t hurt that i can’t stand the song. it also didn’t seem to be a performance from the first 30 seconds i saw when leaving…just audio with the credits. had it been a performance i MIGHT have stayed….no probably not 🙂 james still can’t fathom why we can’t stand the song. worst. bono. lyrics. ever.
i’m always in awe of crowd shots in concert films, and just the mass of humanity present, and how i’d hate that…and then i remember, i’ve been IN that and it’s not as bad as it looks ha. i’ve been a part of 80k at the old wembley stadium, and it was really ok.
anyway. well worth the price of admission, and if it was playing in the afternoons i’d probably go again. i don’t see myself getting the chance to go on another day off before it stops showing. oh, we got to keep the glasses haha.
stopped at denny’s after before heading home. my head only hurt a tiny bit, really less than normal, which i was SO thankful for. i was figuring for another “3:10 to yuma” make me barf headache. hahah.
aaaand…the sabres had a fantastic 8-4 win, with our new guy Steve Bernier contributing the first 2 goals and an assist. Welcome to Buffalo.
dream: someone gave me brian campbell’s phone number. so i thought i’d ring him up and see how he was doing about the trade, and thank him and wish him luck. so i did, and i was expecting just this quick little phone call but he just kept coming up with things to talk about. apparently we weren’t strangers, he knew me from the terminal or something. i could only understand half of what he was saying, he was mumbling. he said something about hanging out with someone i worked with, and i was like, how does he know where i work?
also…michael jackson has defaulted on the neverland ranch, and if he doesn’t pay 24mil or something it’s gonna be auctioned. i dreamed that i went down to sneak on property to see it, and was seriously considering buying it at auction. but then in the auction notes it said you get all the animals too, and i thought, what the hell am i gonna do with all the animals, i can’t run a zoo. haha then i tried to figure out some way for mj fans of the world to pitch in money to buy it and turn it into a mj museum.

i have to testify in court on march 7th on behalf of the CTRC in the case against the grafitti artists who were caught on property in November. this should be interesting. and lucky me it’s at 9:30 am. at least I’m off on thursday (tho it’s EC concert).

i had a strange night. the girl at work who intimidates the hell out of me txted cuz she wanted someone to drink with. so i invited her to the big dinner other coworkers were having. dinner was good, watched the awesome comeback sabres game on tv, just chilled. i’ve decided i don’t like wine…makes you so dehydrated. and fyi the bully hill sabres white wine tastes decent, but the sabres red is terrible. after dinner/game she came back to my house to drink more and watch trent videos. so that was fun. but it was weird. she still intimidates me and i feel like i never know what to say to her even tho we have alot in common. yeah.
speaking of watching trent…we watched “and all that could have been”, first time in years that i’ve watched it. wow. i didn’t quite believe S and V when they said it was hard to watch, but it really is. it’s just so different and so not what i’m used to after 2 years of WT era touring. sometimes looking at trent it’s hard to believe it’s the same guy. i was really shocked. that or i was just drunk. ha
meeting tonight and watching the game. and drinking more smart water so i don’t feel like garbage anymore haha (the mcdonalds lunch didn’t help matters, why does anyone eat there?)
u23d movie is opening friday for sure, but unless i call in i won’t be able to see it til wed. i really need to work so…wed it is. hannah montana is still showing in the afternoons, u2 only at night.
