Wicked

eric sent this to me, and yes it really is the best video ever made. http://www.iheartchaos.com/2008/07/10/morning-music-video-gorbachev-is-a-zombie-killing-barbarian-in-this-russian-metal-video-i-heart-music/ but then again i love all things soviet propaganda looking. but flying twinkies? and the zombies look like a stalin/hitler crossbreed. ha fabulous.

tonight was Wicked at Shea’s with 14 ppl from work…or well 12 because 2 didn’t show up for some reason. we hit up pearl street brewery for dinner first, and tried to take the train the 5 blocks to the theatre…except apparently the train does not run past lafayette square anymore on thursdays, we we went a total of one block and had to walk the rest of the way. no problem whatever, just weird.

i liked Wicked, but i didn’t think the music was as memorable as other musicals. i knew the general story from the books, but couldn’t help picking out what parts were different. they barely touched on the reasons behind elphalba becoming the wicked witch, and more or less barely skimmed the political aspects of the book (as expected). and they made the ending happy instead. as always i am wicked (ha) jealous of musical theatre performers. i’m not sure i’d go see it again, i think my friends all liked it more than me. where as phantom…going to see it again in vegas in 2 weeks hahah.

afterwards we went back to pearl st and hung out on the patio and had a few drinks. they stopped serving food so we went to jims steak out, my very first time despite being born and raised here. twas a good fun night. and no bug bites. 🙂

oh and for anyone buying a house, don’t accept the interest rate they give you on mondays. i waited 3 days and got one that was way lower. score!

harry fn potter

ok i admit…i love harry potter. finished reading the last 200 pages of book 4 last night. just couldn’t stop. i feel bad for making fun of people who went and lined up when the new books came out. i prob would have too, but still no dressing up.

sick sick sick

so much for being healthy, i’m getting sharp stabbing pains in my lower right intestinal region (dunno what else is in that area). woke me up in the night, had trouble sleeping. they won’t go away. it’s like *stab* *fade away* *few minutes later* *stab again* etc. huuuurts. wtf is wrong with meee

I’m warm.

it is too hot out. one of those kinds of hot where it’s hard to breathe. i felt like calling into work, but there is AC at work and not at home haha.

buying a house is a big pain in the ass. talking to the bank about interest rates etc, i hate the fact that you’re paying like almost twice the amount the house cost in the end cuz of all the interest. need to be independently wealthy!! the sellers won’t wait the 3 months it’ll apparently take for me to get the first time home owners mortgage, so i guess i have no choice but to go with one that has a higher interest rate. tho IMO they should have to wait however long it takes for me to get whatever mortgage i want…apparently i’m wrong tho.

i closed extra bank accounts today and of course they asked why, so i told them i was switching banks. they asked why, and i said cuz i was going to europe for 6 months and needed a bank with locations over there LOL she believed me.

oh i went to the dr last week, asked about all the recent issues. the passing out thing – he thinks it’s circulation, and standing for too long all the blood pooling in my legs. so he prescribed old lady constriction stockings. no fucking way am i wearing those (plus it’s way too hot out to be wearing knee highs). i’ve been standing at work for all of my jobs, for the last 12 years and even if that is the case, i can manage without the old lady socks. and the bug bites – as long as they’re not getting infected, it’s apparently normal and not of any concern. as you get older you build up more antibodies and it just happens. tho i got bit about 7 times on my legs at jenns, and they didn’t get all swollen. maybe just getting bit on your forehead and fingers, being that they are odd places to get bit, swell up. whatever. bbq tomorrow, dousing myself in OFF before hand. and i’m NOT staying til 1 am because brian can’t stop talking ever.

dream

dream: i was watching and also starring in some new horror movie. i don’t know the name of it, but the basic idea was a group of people go back to an abandoned house, in a mostly abandoned neighborhood where one of their fathers had gone on a serial killing rampage. phill was also in the movie, and had already seen it, and so was telling us what was going to happen. so of course, we didn’t do what we were supposed to do because we didn’t want to all go and get killed. he disappeared at some point and it was all girls in this neighborhood, and alot of people from work. the neighborhood sorta turned into chautauqua, this whole area that we were roaming around waiting for this killer to show up. oh, and it was in philadelphia. we’re going about life, waiting for the killer to turn up, but since we didn’t do what we were supposed to do in the plot we didn’t know when he was going to appear, so it was all very stressful. i guess he did show up and start killing and a bunch of us tried to get away, despite knowing we wouldn’t be able to. i ran for the gate, which was supposed to have some magical spell on it to not let anyone out, or rather to pull people back in if they escaped but i managed to get out before the killer got me. i looked back and saw him killing a few of my coworkers. so i kept running up this big hill trying to find a place to hide, and i saw adr’s brother, tho at first i thought he was the killer. he was going to hide me in his house, but for some reason i started to go back down to the gates. then someone from outside the gates knew how to kill the killer, and released his pet pitbull and told him to attack. so the dog started attacking the killer, and then suddenly i could see from the killers perspective, and his vision was all distorted as part of his serial killer psychosis, and while there was only one dog, he thought there were 5 or 6 dogs all attacking him. he was flailing around trying to defend himself against all these other dogs that didn’t exist. i guess the dog eventually killed the killer.

party!

this is hilarious http://www.holytaco.com/2008/06/27/the-douchiest-phone-message-in-history/ trust me. it’s worth listening to, especially the 2nd call when he gets into why she hasn’t called him. omg. classic.

jenn had a party for me/4th tonight at her house, which was good. they loaded up on fireworks down in PA a few weeks ago and jeff shot some of them off. pretty impressive for backyard fireworks. phil gave me guitar hero 3, which was totally too extravagant and he really shouldn’t have. and i won 8$ on scratch off lotto tickets.

going hiking in the gorge with ian tomorrow, going to try to access the old power plant, but we’ll see how that goes. hopefully the rain holds off.

Chautauqua

adr2 wants an update and i finally have some time.

went to chautauqua institute for wed/thurs to see uncle ed read his baseball haiku as part of their sport in america week. it was the first week of their season so the compound (for lack of a better word to call it) wasn’t too busy. my parents rented an “apartment” for the entire week. it was really 2 bedrooms and a kitchenette, interconnected with doors but by no means an apartment. for people who don’t know what the institute is it is very hard to explain. it is an old victorian town which was built around culture and music and i think religion, which is now gated and is like a summer retreat. there are lectures and concerts every day, there is a music school with little practice cottages where kids just go and play music all day alone. it’s on the lake so there is a beach and boats and stuff. there are no cars allowed except to drop off stuff. oh and you have to pay to get in. and pay alot. it pays for all the lectures and music etc. it’s not a swinging exciting place though, so people ask what we did, and i say nothing cuz you really just go and hang out. it used to be pretty famous for being overrun with bats, the sky would be full of them at dusk but i didn’t see a single one, which is sad.

so wed afternoon just walked around with the parents, got dinner, and met up with ed and laurice and a friend of theirs on the porch of our house. the concert that night was chamber orchestra, which cracked alot of jokes, and brought out a speed painter who did a portrait of beethoven in 5 minutes. they were amusing. thurs carol and eric arrived, and ed read his poetry with 2 other writers that afternoon. followed that with a book signing and a big dinner with the family and the few friends and writers at a place off the grounds. there was a ballet that night but we missed it at dinner. then more hanging on the porch, and celebrating birthdays (mine, mom’s and eric’s). left friday morning back home, and slept the rest of the day. sleeping there was not fun, too many noises to wake me up constantly.

saturday was the winefest at the terminal. it was already more successful than last year’s before it even started haha. there were lots of people when i got there, more than i expected and it seemed very well done.

oh and saturday was my birthday. i worked after winefest. exciting!

sunday brought looking at the house again, and putting in an offer. it was accepted 4 hours later, so…i guess i’m buying a house lol.

that’s all i have to say.
