something is wrong with me. i was driving back to school a few hours ago, listening to “achtung baby”….”one” came on, started to cry in the car as i drove 75 down the thruway…(an aside: kinda weird, adrienne’s blog lists her as listening to “one”, thinking of me cuz i was at the show…and i’m driving and crying and listening to “one” lol…i really thank god i have new memories associated with that song)

best show i’ve ever seen

I got up at 7:30 to get ready to leave for Hamitlon. Wanted to leave at 8:30, cuz i needed to get there by 10:30 to pick up my ticket from the person i bought it from. Yahoo directions said it would take me close to 2 hours to get to Copps from NT, plus the border hassel due to all the crap going on, i left around 8:15….what time did I get to Hamilton? 9:30….haha. it took me an hour. border was no problem, i stopped and exchanged money, all that…the way home my trunk got searched at the border, had to show ID…good to know they’re protecting us!! 😛

so i got in line, and got a number (314) and then later got my ticket. I didn’t get lost, it was all good. Ended up talking to these 2 girls and a guy in line, played cards with them etc. I let the girls store their crap in my car since they had taken the bus and had no where to put it.

So after about 8 hours we got let into Copps. Well before that we had gotten wrist bands that guaranteed a floor spot…dunno what the difference is if you have a GA ticket but whatever. I got a cool wrist band! So…we got frisked, etc, got into Copps. It’s really small in there, probably the size of the Rochester arena…the first 350 people got let into the heart, which although my number was 314…yeah didn’t get in the heart. NOT A PROBLEM!!! I ended up barrier on outside of the heart, on edge’s side….probably halfway from stage to tip of the heart. could see perfectly (when the security guard wasn’t in my way)
sooo…garbage played, yeah. (i totally forgot they had played until i was about 10 minutes from my house on the way home lol). they were good….1323534635 times better than PJ Harvey. They played their hits…only happy when it rains, stupid girl, #1crush… i was happy they played that, cuz i totally forgot it was their song and i really like it. yeah shirley manson is perfect looking.
so after that, waited around more, painful lol but whatever. u2 came on around quarter to 9. opened with “elevation” and “beautiful day” like in buffalo (they had done something different earlier in the week, so no one knew what to expect for our show). they changed the set list up ALOT, which is good, cuz it means i didn’t see the exact same show. While I prefer the buffalo setlist, this show was by far better. there was so much extra “special” stuff that made it way better.
1. bono hugged an american flag for a good 2 minutes. a girl at the outside tip of the heart had an american flag. i forget which song was ending when bono took the flag and hugged it for a very long time. he hid his face in the flag as he hugged it, and stood there. (someone said he was crying, and was wiping his tears with it) millions of pictures were taken obviously, need to find some. it was really special. kinda sad that it takes 4 irish men to spark a bit of patriotism in me… there were also other people with american flags, a sign that had a flag on it and said “thank you for caring” on it…..i dunno. the whole fact that i was an american in canada, and ppl being so supportive..it was really touching.
2. bono brought up some kid who had made a sign that said he wanted to play guitar with the band. they brought the kid an acoustic guitar and bono and the edge stayed at the tip of the heart with the kid as he played. however, the kid had no idea what he was doing! he sucked badly cuz he was so nervous, he was shaking, so bono was telling him what chords to play, where his fingers should be, the rhythm etc as edge played it and the rest of the band played….then bono and edge left the tip back to the stage and the kid followed them, and then bono gave him the microphone, and took the guitar and the kid sang the song as bono played. it was so great!
3. they played “out of control”…and while i don’t see how great of a thing this is, i guess it’s rare for them to play it, since it was their first single ever….so that was cool
4. yeah ok, i admit, i cried…I SAID I WOULD! but not for the reason i said i would… almost cried during “kite”….was too dehydrated to form tears LOL. bono was talking about how he originially wrote the song for his children, but now he thinks his dad wrote it for him…sad…but i did cry during the last encore…they played “one”, and the screens behind them read off the names of all the people who died in the 4 hijacked planes a month ago…which went into “peace on earth” and “walk on”…yeah…cried…it was bad. but i wasn’t alone so hehe
5. bono shined the spot light right in my face during “bullet the blue sky”….like, he was standing right in front of me, light in my face, could not see…not like just the edge of the spotlight kinda shining on my face, no like THE DIRECT BEAM! lol….oh and while singing “jacob wrestled the angel and the angel was overcome” he was all hugging himself, and i was like omg you are so beautiful.

6. acoustic version of “staring at the sun” by bono and edge… so great.

i was SO happy they played “bullet the blue sky” and “new york” because i was unsure they were going to…esp bullet, cuz they didn’t the other night…i am obsessed with that song as of late, so i was really happy i could see it from the front of the stage and not the back. they changed the intro to the song, took out the singing, and the NRA/Heston part…just went right into the song…it’s so haunting…the spotlight bit is a nice touch…during “new york”, bono comes on to the heart, stops right in front of where i was, where he sings in front of a screen thing. well they changed the words to the song, and the security guy came and put them on the stage in front of where bono would be since he doesn’t know them…so it was kinda rad to see bono reading the words from the sheet….bono kissed edge during “until the end of the world” haha it was so cute

didn’t play “mysterious ways” or “the fly”….the fly, not so much a shock as mysterious ways…i figured that was a staple of the show…but that’s ok. whatever.

i’m home again.

didn’t sleep last night. went to bed at 12:30 but everytime i started to fall asleep i heard danielle and leah talking downstairs. then they came up stairs at 1:30, talking in front of my door….then danielle took a shower…didnt get to sleep until at least 3

my test was ok. one multiple choice q i didn’t know, totally guessed. i picked a word i never heard of before cuz the other choices made no sense. the essay was stupid, cuz he told us we didn’t need to know the attachment style numbers, and what was the question? fill in the numbers for these attachment styles….yah great. i guessed educatedly.

the entire school campus REEKS! i don’t know what the smell is either. it’s a combination of alfalfa, cow manure fertilizer, chemical fertilizer, and sewage….it’s really really bad! and i’m super sensitive to bad smells, they make me sick….not fun. the ENTIRE drive home down rt 63 it REEKED….i tried to put the air on recirculate instead of taking in air from outside, but it still started to reek in the car….add some burning tire smell to the previous mix to get the smell on rt 63.

back at geneseo…they did manage to finish paving the walk way between the 2 rows of houses, and our parking lot…of course that means i had to park way far away. ug. annoying.

so unpacked etc. danielle and i hung up halloween decorations…the hypnotic lights, some window clings etc. we also all rearranged the furniture, pretty much back to the way it had been when we moved in HAHA… we moved the tv, since we had a long enough cable cord, so now more than 1 place in the living room can see the tv. it looks nicer…still doesn’t really fit all our furniture. so after that the 5 of us sat around and talked for a while, then went to denny’s

well denny’s was closed…for maintnence or something, reopening at 6:30, so that sucked. went to mia’s for pizza instead. then parked way far away again. BUT! we stole signs LOL. we stole a parking lot closed sign, and a no parking sign…the closed one is actually magnetic, so it’s on our fridge now LOL. the other one is plastic so we need to find a way to hang it up. we want more signs, so we’re gonna go on a sign hunting expedition at some point lol.

when my grandpa died last may my family sold his house, logically. well my mom has a degree in art, and one of her paintings was hanging up in my grandparents house for 30 years or so. there is nothing spectacular about this painting, it’s abstract, just paint splashed on a canvas. but it was part of my life, in their house, for 21 years. so i wanted it. i told my aunt i wanted it and to keep it for me. my mom told her to throw it out. i just remembered that my aunt had the painting a few weeks ago, but then figured she probably did throw it out. WELLLLLLL! she didn’t! she brought it to my house this weekend when they visited. they rolled it up and brought it for me, and so now we’re going to hang it in our house, since we have no decorations. woo hoo.

well i think i have secured myself a u2 ticket for saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! someone contacted me today, offering me 1 GA ticket for face value 54$ canadian (38 american). while i’m kinda scared to do business over the internet, he’s just as scared as well since he got screwed last time, and wants to do the exchange in person! so thank god for that or else i think my paranoia about being screwed would have made me pass on the ticket. AND ITS FACE VALUE!!!!! so very excited about this. awaiting his response regarding meeting at the arena in hamilton.

supposed to take danielle to wegmans to get pasta for dinner tonight…shes not here tho, dunno when she gets back. i know she has another class tho at 6….dinner was supposed to be at 5, but i dont think she gets out of lab til 5…so i’m confused.

went to school with danielle… afshani wasnt there, is gone for the week in San Diego or something. arg. but saw Corey, talked to him for awhile. it’s always nice to see him.

then i took her to comp usa to find a cord for her comp speakers.. no one has one, no one can even order one. not even gateway country store. retards. HOWEVER our trip was not made for nothing. We saw the OSCAR MEYER WEINER MOBILE DRIVING DOWN THE BLVD!!!!!!!! HAHAHAH can you imagine anything better than that?!?!?!

just spent an hour or so watching home movies from 89/90…it was weird. we were looking for the video footage of pennsylvania. i think i’ll stop there in describing what they were about, because well…a bunch of people could suddenly come under suspicion of the CIA… lol. we couldn’t find the footage we wanted though, of the car on fire…

but we did find video of (woah this guy on tv had nipple rings, yum) my 10th birthday party…it was weird. there was this girl carrie there…i was friends with her in elementary school, then she turned into miss cheerleader, so of course i wasn’t “allowed” to be friends with her anymore really…but in this video we’re having a dance party on my deck and she’s just standing in the back, all shy… and then she turns into a slut. lol…very strange to see.

there was also footage of me and neighbors bowling. HAHA it’s so funny. i’m the only one who can actually hold the ball and throw it the right way, the other girls were doing the under the legs bit…gutter balls every time. almost every time. so i guess i do bowl better now than i did when i was a kid.

there was also video of me and ex bestfriend angela playing barbies in my room, and angela goes and waves a naked barbie doll in front of the camera and goes “naked barbie!!!” lol…there is alot of footage of me and angela doing various things….she was my best friend for 11 years. there is footage of us on one tape dancing in the living room to Paula Abdul. lol.

but apparantly our videos were boring my uncle, who wanted to see them to begin with. so we stopped. gonna watch more tomorrow when they leave. there’s all kind of tape of me in chorus in 4th and 5th grade, my solos.. etc…hehe.. i’m talented!

 

there is something about overexposed black and white images that i really love….

watching mtv’s 100 greatest vids ever made…down to the last 10 now. i was also trying to read about mental retardation, but haha that’s not happening. i turned it on randomly cuz i was tired of watching vh1’s all hiphop day, and it was INXS’s “need you tonight/mediate” video…these kinds of countdowns suck, cuz all the videos are good LOL and it makes me want to watch. even songs i hate by people i hate (ie missy eliot) i watch, cuz they are good… oh shit did i miss the best part of this vid? 2pac dancing on the platform? (it’s california love video hehe i love this song)…nope, was just on, hehe. i used to know all the words to this song hahah…anyway…madonna’s “express yourself” video is so metropolis inspired…of course never noticed before, since i hadn’t heard of the movie then…she dances on the M machine… i think it’s the M machine…no wait, it’s not.. no wait, it is… the M machine before it blows up and becomes Moloch and eats people…and the steam whistle is in the vid alot too…and shots of the town with the trains and airplanes around….of course its not AS inspired by Metropolis as Queen’s “radio ga-ga”…that vid is like PURE metropolis…they even ride in a train going around the city with a background of what the city would look like from that persepective. it’s great. i actually had a metropolis-eque dream last night… that i was looking at geneseo, and it was a big city, and buildings were moving, and i looked very metropolis like…

and speaking of metropolis, theatres in Toronto are playing the movie with scenes not in most releases… dunno if its the Georgio Moroder version or not…i’m thinking it’s not…so it would be silent…i wanna go see it, but yeah, that’s not going to happen…wish i lived in a city where cool stuff like that happened.

i really don’t see what is so great about the beastie boys’ “sabotage” video….it’s dumb i think.

 

some politician stopped over about an hour ago. i answered the door in my pjs, wrapped in a blanket, hair all messy. he wanted to talk to my mom, introduce himself. she’s not here. apparantly he didn’t think i was of legal voting age, since he didn’t talk to me about him running for whatever…cuz i’m not 21…and voting age isnt 18… ok well one less vote for you buddy!

you know who is really perfect looking…. shirley manson from Garbage….(they’re on tv right now lol) Garbage is opening for U2 in hamilton….last night joe is like, what are you gonna do if u go to hamilton and don’t get tickets… well what else? drive back home LOL

speaking of last night…got my surprise from rick…he got me a shirt signed by vaclav varada from the sabres carnival. this is extraordinary for a few reasons.
1. rick is an asshole and selfish… not like him to think of anyone besides himself LOL
2. he hates varada
3. don’t understand why he got *ME* something…if it was meant to be some kind of truce/peace offering, it makes no sense, since i wasn’t the one who ever got into fights with him about hockey

i cannot type “peace” without first typing “peach”…

yeah i want to be shirley manson LOL….i bet Garbage will be 13465633 times better than PJ Harvey was….

but anyway, yeah… went to joe’s last night. there were like 8 of us smooshed in his bedroom watching tv all night. watched the mole, then mr bean, then dumb and dumber. and i had to hug rick….:P….i also got the pic of me and rick from the tea party show, gonna scan that and put it up later….

(vh1 is retarded…they need to get their facts straight… ive been watching for a half hour and theres already 2 mistakes…mistake #1…Michael Jackson (bono on tv ahhh need to go to that show!) made a movie called Ghosts…vh1 is going to be playing it on october 27th for the first time on tv… but they called it his NEW movie ghosts…. ok, yeah, it’s like 4-5 years old now..hardly new…. #2…premiering a video from a NEW band… nickleback… nickleback is NOT new….)

anyway, got home from joe’s at like 12:45…didnt fall asleep until 4…sucky pillows on my bed here at home…but i had somemore wack dreams, so gonna have to go type them up now… parents and aunt&uncle left so i’m home alone… am supposed to go to mcds and visit before 2 but i dunno if that’s gonna happen…doing laundry since i have no clothes clean LOL

 

why are behind the music, and e! true hollywood story type shows so addicting?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? that is my question! i’ll sit and watch a behind the music about someone i hate/never heard of/just don’t care about and be completely fascinated. i watched half of bon jovi’s, half of john mellencamp, half of woodstock (already have seen it 3 times tho haha)…then i changed the channel and watched most of true hollywood story about Dirty Dancing!!!! I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!! Now there is one on about river phoenix…i want to watch. can’t let myself. they’re doing a top 10 countdown of the best true hollywood stories… THAT MEANS THEYRE REALLY GOOD… i wanna watch!!!

we have no hot water. isn’t that nice? i called emergency maintenece at 8 am…it’s 10…they haven’t come yet. or if they did, they haven’t fixed anything, because we still have no hot water. no one took a shower today, needless to say. it’s probably just the pilot light or something… well actually it’s kinda weird, because the water gets warm… and now i’m talking slightly above freezing point warm, not like, ok this is useable kind of warm. and it’ll get this slightly warm temperature for a few seconds, and then goes cold. almost like there is a big hole somewhere, spurting out all our hot water, instead of sending it to the sink. some of the hot water gets through, the rest is flooding something somewhere. like maybe our storage room. i should go look at that (we have a nice huge wheel valve in our storage room on this huge pipe…don’t know what it’s for, i’m assuming water.)

all my mp3s are screwed up. carolyn downloaded do you feel loved live for me the other day, sent it to me, i listened to it, yeah. i decided it was ok, so i kept the mp3. i played it yesterday, and it was only a minute and a half long. what the hell is that?! i swear it was a full mp3 when she sent it to me. if it wasn’t i would have told her it was cut off and to find another one for me. but obviously i didn’t, so it must have been fine. now it’s only half of the song, not even….and i had an mp3 of u2’s WTC telethon performance. i dled it from some site, didn’t listen to it until last night. it stops after “peace on earth”…doesn’t go into “walk on”…the title of the file said it’s the entire thing…but not the mp3 i have. so now i don’t know if something ate half of that mp3 too, or if it was always like that… and i have no viruses that would be chompin on half my mp3s…arg.

ok i’m not supposed to take any naproxin today for my shoulder, cuz i was only supposed to take 2 a day for a week. he gave me 2 weeks worth of pills tho, to take whenever it hurts… so the question is, should i take one today or no?…maybe i’ll just wait awhile. it’s not in pain right now, but my neck is kinda going numb….i’m dying. i swear.

what else was i going to talk about? OH YEAH! this gross old guy talked to me today. he’s in my criminal justice class. he is the perfect picture of a “2 pack a day i’m dying of lung cancer” old man. he’s probably in his 50s, i mean maybe he could be younger and just decrepit from all the cigarettes he’s smoked, i dunno…but he looks older than my parents… face all sunken in, really skinny, grey hair etc. school has been in session for over a month now, we have class twice a week, yet today i walk in and he all happily goes “good morning” to me… well i was totally thrown off. so i’m like all cheery “morning!”…yeah that was weird, he didn’t say a word to anyone else who walked in and sits in our area….then he kinda kept turning around to look at me, and it’s like EW wtf, leave me alone! so then of course, i was paranoid that he was going to follow me after class and talk to me or something, so i booked out of there, and went and checked my mail so if he was following me, i’d lose him. lol. i’m a freak.

 

fyi i have changed my cds again! currently there is NO u2 in my stereo! **shock**….we’ve got tool – lateralus, econoline crush – brand new history and a perfect circle – mer de noms

oh god, katie is playing disturbed, must turn up stereo…damn quiet tool song! louder! louder! *insert beavis and butthead sound byte here*
