ok, incase someone doesn’t know the site yet (can’t remember if i mentioned it), but microsoft 1 upped google satelite maps with their local.live.com. incredible close up “bird’s eye” satelite images of most of the country. i mean, really really fantastic arial photos. you can look up my parents house and see my car in the driveway. you can look up the terminal, and each different directional view was taken at a different time period – kinda neat. same with the richardson complex – it even shows them ACTUALLY doing work on the place. very cool. so i’ve been playing with it, and tried to look up the nevada test site. and oh my god you can see it. you can see mercury the base camp. and everything else, but not everything is labled so the site where they actually did the tests i can’t find. (and regarding the test site, i’m torn between going for the april 24th tour, or going to vegas at the same time coworkers are). though i’m not patriotic in the slightest, and bush already knows i wish him dead since he’s been spying on us all, it is a bit…disconcerting to see that you can view close up detailed images of military bases…you can see the air base across the street from me in total clarity…planes on the run way, buildings, etc. google had blurred that stuff out. but anyway. i’m sure that’ll change at some point. terrorists find your targets while you still can 😛
seriously the site is hours of fun
the fact that there is a highway in the vegas area that runs through the nevada test site called the extraterrestrial highway makes my day.
