i found this great website called mysquarefootgarden.net, it is an easy to read and understand gardening site, and it clearly spells out when you should be planting various things based on where you live…specifically, as in Buffalo, not just the zones on the back of the seed packages. so i found out that i was already behind a few weeks on certain veggies, and as of tuesday i am fully planted.
bed 1 – behind the house
garlic planted last fall, doing excellent (well, at least above ground haha)
lettuce – seeds, starting to come up
onion sets – coming up despite being stepped on by the gutter cleaners
spinach – seeds, starting to come up i think
green beans – seeds, not coming up….give it a few more days, and then if they still aren’t up i’m buying seedlings
peas – seeds, coming up nicely
yellow beans – seedlings
edamame – seeds, one coming up…may not work out
hot banana peppers – 2 seedlings, over flow from bed 2
jalapeno – 2 seedlings, over flow from bed 2.
kale – seedlings
broccoli – seedlings
bed 2 – behind the garage
all peppers, 6 each of lady bell, sweet banana and hot portugal seedlings
bed 3 – behind the garage also
roma tomato – 1 seedling
sweet 100 – 6 seedlings
early girl tomato – 6 seedlings
cucumber – 6 seedlings
make shift, in the ground garden…not sure any of this is going to work out, bad soil, lack of sun in the afternoon. :/
more over flow peppers – 4 each of hot banana and jalapeno
zucchini – 1 seedling
acorn squash – 3 by seed
butternut squash – 3 by seed
So i hope everything works out. Can’t wait to harvest!
