hello again.
so leighanne’s mini visit went well. tony got her at the airport and brought her here. we went to the casino to kill a few hours and a few bucks. came back this way, stopped at tops so i could get milk and cough meds. tops has a mouse problem. tony and leighanne saw a mouse running around behind the milk cooler. barf. after the mouse/tops stop we went to dennys then called it a night. around 4am. haha. did the christmas thing. super de duper xmas gifts gah. a serial killer book, a freak show book, and a fallout detector, so i’ll always know when it’s safe to come out after a nuclear attack!!! best thing ever. the fallout detector came with old civil defense nuclear saftey books. and lots of bells, courtesy of The Fly.
friday i had to get up butt ass early to go to the dr, just to sit there for an hour, so i came home and took a nap before going to the terminal to meet russell. he left us there, and i showed leighanne around to all the places she couldn’t go cuz of the gimp foot at the picnic. we were there for about an hour and a half. then we decided to go pay a visit to horsefeathers, snoop around for more terminal stuff they’re hiding. got to horsefeathers, and i locked my keys in the car. stupid gloves – i can’t feel anything so i didn’t realize i dropped the keys in the backseat when getting my purse. so i had to call my roadside assistance that i have for another 6 months and 6000 miles. they said someone would be there within the hour. 5 min later the tow truck showed up and got my keys out. nice and smoothly. so that was good. i bought myself a present at horsefeathers, to add to my newly started “weird gadget” collection…now aside from my fallout detector, i also own an explosimeter…apparently it was some gadget you took into the mines, and it would test the air and stuff, and you could tell if something was going to explode. neat.
from there, i drove out to the marine star to show leighanne. at the marine star leighanne experienced real buffalo winter…wicked wind off the lake, wind chill factor all over the place hahaha. i had forgotten my sinatras gift certificate so we went to the parents house for dinner, then rented the godfather and came back to watch that. i told her we’d need a good 5 hours for the movie, she didn’t quite believe me hahah. and in the time we spent watching godfather, it snowed 2 inches. hahah god continuously smotes us. watched u2’s popmart concert after that. gah *drool* popmartbono
took leighanne to the airport this morning and came back and went to bed. it seems no one else got snow except us. haha. i have a full blown cold. and it sucks. my head is all stuffed up…but it’s not in my nose…my nose is only slightly stuffy, i can still breath, but the rest of my head is stuffed, and going to explode and really hurts. blaaaaaaaah. i dont like taking cold meds either cuz they make me go bonkers. i dunno how i’m gonna work with this headache though.
i really need to do laundry and i have no money so i have to take it to the parents house…and thus waste a whole lot of time by not being able to do anything while i’m there. i better go shower and get started.
i must not spend all my money on civil defense things on ebay…BUT…i really want
1. a docimeter…well actually, i just want the docimeter charger. my dad might still have his docimeter…
2. a geiger counter
3. tons of civil defense posters…they just don’t make propaganda like they used to
if anyone needs to get me an xmas present still….*looks up*
….and i need to take more civil defense stuff from our urbex sites. like the survival biscuits and stuff. and a fallout shelter sign.
and about my explosimeter…
Use: Explosimeters are used to verify flammable gas concentration in the atmosphere. Instruments can be used in the immediate environment or can draw samples from remote areas through the use of sampling lines or probes.
Description:
The instrument operates by the catalytic action of a heated filament in contact with combustible gases. The filament is heated to operating temperature by passage of an electrical current. When the gas sample contacts the heated filament, combustion on the surface raises the temperature in proportion to the quantity of combustibles in the sample. A sensor measures the change in electrical resistance due to the temperature increases. A signal is processed and displayed as the percentage of the combustible gas present to the total required to reach the lower explosive limit (LEL) and/or the percent combustible gas by volume.
