i just realized how sweet concert dates are falling so far…2 nin dates are on my days off, and u2 in toronto in sept is on a day off. i do have to figure out what i want to do about nin in detroit, because if i want to go i might as well take another week of vacation. however i didn’t want to take 2 weeks back to back…but doesn’t make alot of sense to go back to work for 2 days, off one, go back for one, off another and then my days off again. but we’ll see, it’ll depend on if adr2 plans to stay over night in detroit (if she decides to go at all) and when we’d be leaving to drive there. DTE is seats so there’d be no reason to get there early, lots of time to get there the day of (like last time).

i wonder how bono is going to do a tour when his voice is so weak…”magnficient” is not what I’d consider a hard song for him to sing, pitch wise, and he still has issues. sad, tho people would argue he never COULD sing haha
must remember to watch letterman tonight, however that would require WATCHING letterman, and i find him annoying. and paul schaffer makes me want to stab myself.

first set of nin tour dates announced. looking at 3 for sure, toronto, darien lake (!!) and pittsburgh, and maybe detroit. there is a big chunk of dates out in new jersey but i really really don’t want to drive out there again. so this should be good. 3 shows with no need for hotels, and in detroit there is family if needed.
i am very nervous about u2 playing stadiums…even if bono says they’re going to keep prices low for ppl effected by the economy, and then have really expensive tix for rich people…there is no way the cheap seats are going to still be GA, and the $$ seats be lower bowl in a stadium. i am not paying over $50 to see them from stadium nosebleeds…
No Line On The Horizon
“no line on the horizon” officially was released today so i headed out to bestbuy to pick it up. they had all 4 versions on sale, the box set for $64 so i gave in and got that one. when standing in line at “media” stores i always check out what other people are buying. the guy in front of me bought the watchmen dvd and vicky christina barcelona. the old guy behind me, all i could see was u2’s slane castle dvd…then he notices that i’m buying the box set, so he asks me if it was for my daughter or did i like u2? daughter? why would he think i had a daughter? so he says he likes u2 alot too, and shows me his other items…under a blood red sky dvd and the new one, and says “i bought everything they had”…that was all they had? haha i think he would have talked to me for ages if i didn’t get to go to the next cashier.
the box set is very nice. they advertise that the digipack comes with a poster…which it does, but it is GLUED into the cd packaging. what the hell! it folds out but one square is glued into the digipack so you can’t cut it out to display it at all. stupid stupid. the box set has another regular poster, but it’s just the album cover on one side and a shot of the band on the other, while the one glued to the cd is really nice with 9 different b&w photos on one side, and fez on the other (i assume). the hard cover book is full of photos, hand written lyrics, and an interview with the 4 guys. it’s nice but i find myself completely uninterested in reading it haha.
i need someplace to display these box sets i’ve purchased without them getting filthy…ghosts was black cloth, and nloth is all white. neither one good for dust and cat hair haha

i come home to the u2 album leak, and the nin photoblog showing 2 songs of the australian setlist which OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that’s all i’ll say since I know adr2 won’t want to know what 2 songs they are. but !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

plane crash
a plane flying to buffalo from newark crashed into a house in clarence tonight. wow. 48 people in the plane, dead, and one person on the ground so the news says. crazy! when i was a kid and i heard planes above me i had a fear that they were crashing into the house.
sabres are raising season ticket prices again by 5%…so that’s 4 years of having tix and 4 price increases. I shouldn’t complain, it’s only a 1.50 increase per game as opposed to $3 previous years, but still…RECESSION PEOPLE! i wonder (hope) if they will reconsider the platinum level window prices next year, since they didn’t sell out the Leafs games this year. i guess even crazy leaf fans won’t pay 100 for nosebleeds. if we renew by March 20th we get a 20% discount on playoff tickets, but even reading all the details i’m confused as to if the discount applies to 08-09 playoffs, or 09-10 playoffs, or both…it’s some sort of rebate that gets applied to our account, which makes it even more confusing.
i found a download for u2’s “no line on the horizon” song, and it’s not too bad. it appears that it is not the album version though, it is a b-side on the “get on your boots” single. everyone is waiting for an album leak, it’s only 2 weeks away.
i was really bored this afternoon so i went out to the aud despite the shite weather, took like 2 pictures because it was snowing, and the longer exposures necessary made for snow streaks. plan to go tomorrow too and hopefully adr2 gets out of work early so we can take ladder.
the text boxes that come up on youtube videos now, with comments or whatever, are the most obnoxious thing on the internet.
watched u2’s grammy performance on youtube. the screen, the platform, and bono are very reminiscent of the fly. which is a good thing. but then i listened to 30 sec clips of the album on walmart’s digital music store, and i am so incredibly disappointed. really really very sad about it. i’m hoping the whole thing redeems itself some how, but from the clips…i’m going to hate it.
aud demo started last week, and i took a drive down there on saturday to take some pictures. i need someone to drive me down there with a ladder so i can get shots from above the fence (here’s looking at you and your van adr2 🙂 hehe). there’s no way to get any elevation around the building, unless i want to risk death by stopping on the skyway haha. i was going to go down today again for some action shots (hopefully) but i slept too late, and tomorrow is going to be warmer so i’m going to try again tues.
i want to buy the stuffed severed horse head (a la the godfather) that i found using stumble, it’s only $45, but then i remembered i wanted to buy the florida voting machines that caused all the problems in 2000 with hanging chads, that ended up with the worst 8 years in recent american history. that was $99 and limited quantity so i did that instead. for now. haha.
