yahoo re: metallica’s induction into the rock and roll hall of fame: “The evening ended with a jam for the ages as Metallica, Beck, Jimmy Page, Aerosmith’s Joe Tyler and Flea brought the house down with a performance of the Yardbirds’ “Train Kept A Rollin.””

who is joe tyler? did aerosmith get a new band member? 😛

the u2 tickets arrived in the mail, and you know how the first ticket in the bunch is your receipt…i didn’t realize quite how high the fees were until i saw that receipt…$53 in fees. that’s almost one whole extra ticket. i really wonder what that money goes to…$12 per ticket x 10,000 tickets = $120,000 for what? that is a racket and a half. arg

my one and only april fools day prank! i rock.

i’ve never really enjoyed april fools day, mainly because i have enough trust issues as it is, i don’t like to be tricked. i’ve fallen for a few ninhotline tricks in the beginning of my nin fandom (like nin touring with filter ha!), but smartened up since.

but i pulled off the best prank yesterday. my first attempt ever. the key to pulling off a good prank is believability. so updating facebook to say i got arrested at the aud was pure brilliance on my part. completely believable!! a few people were observant and smelled a rat right away, but i got quite a few txts and comments from people asking if i was ok. the best part of all was getting a txt from phil, who’s not even on facebook, asking what happened. thanks to desi everyone at work thought i really was arrested LOL. phil’s like, you’re gonna have some explaining to do. what’s to explain, you’re all fools! 🙂

shows

on my list i forgot Crue Fest in september as a maybe. a bunch of people from work want to go but we’re waiting for a special deal on lawn tickets.

and then eric sends a message today that korn is playing rochester in may. who even knew they were touring? and the tickets went on sale today. so many shows, can’t go to them all! (esp cuz this one is on a monday, so it’s a day off and then the price of the ticket….i’ll probably skip this one).

concert schedule

thankfully u2 ticket buying was so nice and easy. 4 more tickets for the first show, and it only took a minute of my precious morning time, then right back to bed. so here’s the schedule so far for this year

peaches May 20 (maybe)
nin June 2
just announced, NKOTB at darien lake june 14 WOO!! haha
depeche mode, july 25
u2 9-16 and 9-17
metallica nov 4 – cuz i decided to go against what i told myself i’d never do, and give them my heard earned money. it’s freaking metallica, they should be on my concert list even if they are crap now on records

nkotb!!

I wasn’t picked to work the New Kids on the Block show at work last night, but instead I dealt to 3 of them 🙂 🙂 🙂

Wow saturday was a great day…in the Aud, Sabres beat Montreal, and dealing to NKOTB. sweet

u2 tix

u2 added a 2nd show in toronto…apparently added today, which makes me feel better for not realizing it had been added ha. i thought it had been added a while ago and i just wasn’t paying attention. but the tickets go onsale monday, and thankfully leighanne txted me today to ask if i was getting any. i had no idea onsale was monday. hopefully eric will be able to try to get tix for me, lei is trying, and me…anyone else want to help out? 🙂 🙂 i don’t have any more u2 fanfriends to help like last tour.

dream

dream: the toronto nin show was coming, and at the last minute mary from work was able to get 2 pit tickets for us… only it wasn’t at molson amp, it was at a small club that looked like a barn inside. it had a high ceiling, and it was broken up into sections, and we could go into the front section with our tickets. there were high bar tables in front of a wall and window, so we took seats there, and realized you’d be watching the concert through the window. the stage, which was 4 tables put together, was in this room on the other side of the wall/window. sometimes there was glass there, sometimes there wasn’t. apparently i had a recording rig with me too, to bootleg the show, so i started setting it up. it was fairly small but still very noticeable. another guy sat at our table, and he had this super huge recording rig and i was like wtf, so not stealth. and he set his up next to mine. mine was a digital recorder, his was like, reel to reel tape hahah. no one was really paying attention but i heard the beginning of “999,999” so i scrambled up to my rig to hit record, but couldn’t find the button, and they started playing “last” and i freaked out that it wouldn’t get recorded, but i found the button. but then there was no band, it was just trent and now he was on the other side of this barn, so we all went over there, and he was going to play alone, and acoustic. but he was playing covers, and like…folk songs. i hoped that even on the other side of the building it was getting recorded cuz this was a one of a kind show. then he started talking to me about how he saw the rig, and did i really think i’d be able to get out of the building with it, without getting caught? and i was sort of taken aback because i thought he was pretty taper friendly. he said something about how traffic was so bad i’d be stuck there for 2 hours and that was enough time for authorities to come take the tape. and i said, well it’s a good thing i didn’t drive then, i won’t have to wait in traffic. then he went back over to the other side behind the wall/window so everyone went back over there and now there was a woman with headphones simultaneously checking the tapes to see if it was recording and it was.

and in non dream news: adr2 reported that according to the radio, NIN is the headliner of the toronto show. it’s finally listed on ticketmaster, but no ticket prices. helpful 😛 *edit* oh, the presale is today in an hour, and ga pit is 102.75 and seats 68.75….*edit2* gave in and got pit tix…$94 after exchange so it ended up being cheaper than the US dates…

i hate buying tickets

now i’m confused about the state of u2 ticket sales for the upcoming tour too….initial reports said that the field was GA and that the tickets would be $30 (plus fees duh). but an article today, at least regarding european shows, says that the band is auctioning the best stage side tickets to benefit project (red) and it described different types of field tickets for different prices, and that the field tix furthest away were the ones that were 30, and closer were more. so there are different sections of GA on the field? AND different prices? so in the end I WILL end up getting fucked? UG this years concerts SUCK!

dream

i dreamed i was at some club/bar on allen st waiting for a show to start. there were a few bands playing, don’t know who and there weren’t many people there yet. i wasn’t paying attention and a band started to play, a song i recognized. holy crap it was the tea party, reunited. they were playing “halcyon days” i got so excited to see them back together again. jeff martin had lost a bunch of weight and looked really good. i went to talk to him after the song, and asked if they were supposed to be playing that day, and he said no it was a surprise for the people who had come to see the other bands. i was just so flippin excited and i was texting everyone i knew who would be happy at the news that they were back together. they kept playing and still hardly anyone was there, and i was like, booo no one is going to know they got back together cuz no one is here to see it. then i started to question whether it was really happening or if it was a dream, but told myself no this is so totally real and not a dream. ha.

went to the aud today cuz it was warm out. it’s better to go on a cloudy day though because it’s so back lit. bad pics. lots of weird people there today, all talking to me, and they trapped me standing on the big blue thing in front and i couldn’t get down and away from them haha. one looked like trevor hurst if trevor was a shriveling old man. he claimed he used to work there when he was younger, and remembered running around all the ramps and running around empty sections of seats. and he said something about alice cooper but he wasn’t making alot of sense. other guy was telling me how he saw his first hockey game there, and the sabres/philly finals fog game. all the ice surface is gone now, and they’ve started taking down the seat sections. the garage doors are either gone or just left open now, you can see through to the street on the other end. it’s going to be just a shell soon… 🙁

Aces and Blades

went to Aces and Blades with Jenn tonight. it is a charity casino night with the Buffalo Sabres, the players are the dealers and there are all sorts of auctions and stuff. it was supposed to be a big group thing but then other people didn’t have money, couldn’t get off of work, or the event sold out on them (seems they sold 500 tickets, and ours were 494 and 495! just made it!) right away we were totally nerdy, walking from the parking ramp into the arena, behind the big team picture taking pictures of it hahahah. inside they gave everyone sabres “poker” dice, like yahtzee.

walked around a bit checking out the auctions. they had all sorts of things for the live auctions like, take a sabre player to school, ice time with the coaches, etc. they also had 4 blue seats from the aud signed by alumnis, and the coolest bubble hockey game ever! it was an ice bowl superchex with sabres and penguins players, and it was all autographed. so so cool, too bad i couldn’t have afforded to bid. there were lots of silent auction items, signed stuff, other sports stuff like A Rod’s 500th home run autographed photo (why?). then there was a chinese basket auction and each player and their wives, or apparently if they didn’t have sig others, 2 players, created the baskets. some of them were pretty cool with PSPs and ipods in them and stuff. too bad we didn’t win 🙁

we were checking out the food situation when the players came out to start the games, and upstairs was some weird poker game, and the money wheel! woo Vanek was the one relegated to the money wheel, and he had to have a lesson on how to do it LOL it was hilarious. Vanek being Jenn’s fav and no one really being up there we were able to get pics real fast and play a few spins without being pushed around. Teppo Numninen was on the weird poker thing. Back downstairs was all blackjack games, in groups of 4 mostly, with the other players. Walked around and took pics of Hecht for Adr1 and Kaleta for Eric. And apparently Kaleta was talking about me to the “pit boss” but I didn’t notice, Jenn did haha. We tried to play with him but no one was getting up. Ended up sitting with Nathan Paetsch and playing with him for a while. He was very fun and I won 14$ hahaha. Talked about seeing him at work and we told him to come find us next time. Eventually got up to walk around more and took pictures of each player at their table (except we forgot Peters, went back to get him and by this time it was 9 and it was their curfew so they were leaving, got distracted by taking a picture with Paetsch, and then Peters was gone). The players were all leaving pretty quickly so we dashed over to Pominville for Jenn to get a pic, cuz he is Megan’s fav player. The only players who stuck around the rest of the night were Tallinder and Tellqvist. (*edit* realized later that Max, Spacek and Lydman weren’t there, and who was the entertainment? none other than lance diamond, so it was my typical friday night ha)

the live auction was up after the games, so we went back upstairs for food, and after the auction was the alumni as dealers. we forgot that we should have just picked a table and sat at it to wait for the alumni, so again we didn’t have a seat. walked around to see who was dealing and i hardly know any of the alumni…gil perrault, lindy ruff, rob ray, james patrick, and matt barnaby are really the only ones i recognized, and some people who had jerseys on i recognized the names (shannon). there were 2 who were REALLY young and i just couldn’t figure out who they would be, so young and alumni…barnaby looked like alot of fun to play with, ray didn’t know wtf he was doing haha. james patrick was upstairs on the money wheel this time around haha.

cashed out our chips and headed out. we were going to meet people out for drinks but it didn’t really happen so we went to Towne for food and headed home. it was super fun, definitely will go again.
