Got a letter from the city
This is in response to your recent letter to Mayor Brown in regard to gaining access to Memorial Auditorium.
Our department has received numerous requests from organizations and individuals such as yourself who are interested in artifacts, photographs or just want to have a last look at this part of Buffalo history. At this time, no definite decisions have been made as to whether the building will be renovated or demolished. We are working closely with the Empire State Development Corporation and the Erie Canal Harbor Board in this process.
Be advised that the building has no heat or electricity, and recent tests have raised concerns in regard to mold and air quality in the building. Based on these factors, access to the facility is not possible at this time. However, this department will record your request with others received and will attempt to permit access at some point in the future when rehab and/or demolition activities commence.
I thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
Daniel Kreuz
Acting Commissioner Public Works, Parks and Streets
